Army Black Knights Men's Soccer
The Army Black Knights men's soccer program represents the United States Military Academy (West Point) in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. Founded in 1921, the Black Knights compete in the Patriot League. The Black Knights play in the Patriot League and are coached by Russell Payne, a former goalkeeper who played in the A-League (the United Soccer League's second division predecessor). Army plays their home matches at Clinton Field in West Point, New York. In 1945, Army was declared co-national champions by the Intercollegiate Soccer Football Association, the predecessor to the NCAA, making it the only season Army won a national championship of any kind in men's college soccer. Brian Plotkin
Brian Plotkin (born August 3, 1984 in Lisle, Illinois) is the head Coach of the Army Black Knights men's soccer team and is a retired professional soccer player. Career College and Amateur Brian Plotkin played college soccer for Indiana University from 2002 to 2005, featuring in 90 games and accumulating 24 goals and 36 assists. He was a member of National Championship winning teams in 2003 and 2004. He was the runner-up for the 2005 Hermann Trophy Award and was also named NSCAA First Team All-American and Big 10 Player of the Year. He also went on to gain First Team All Big Ten honors three consecutive years from 2003 to 2005, and an Academic All Big-Ten award in 2003. Plotkin played club soccer for the Chicago Sockers from the U12 to U19 levels and was a member of their U16 National Championship team in 2001. Subaru Park (formerly known as PPL Park and Talen Energy Stadium) is a soccer-specific stadium located in Chester, Pennsylvania, located next to the Commodore Barry Bridge on the waterfront along the Delaware River. The venue is home to the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer. Subaru Park was designed as an initial step for economic development on the waterfront, with additional plans calling for a riverwalk amidst other entertainment, retail, and residential projects. The stadium was constructed by T.N. Ward Company, which is based in Ardmore. The Michigan State Spartans men's soccer team represents Michigan State University in all men's Division I NCAA soccer competitions. They compete in the Big Ten Conference. The Trinity College Bantams are the varsity and club athletic teams of Trinity College, a selective liberal arts college located in Hartford, Connecticut. 1964 NCAA Soccer Championship
The 1964 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament was the sixth organized men's college soccer tournament by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, to determine the top college soccer team in the United States. The Navy Midshipmen, in their second straight title game appearance, won their first title, defeating the Michigan State Spartans 1–0 in the final on December 5, 1964. In the title game, all-time lacrosse Hall of Famer Jimmy Lewis scored the game's only goal. Lewis was named the tournament outstanding player. The Adelphi Panthers are the athletic teams that represent Adelphi University, located in Garden City, Long Island, New York, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The 1963 NCAA soccer tournament was the fifth annual tournament organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the national champion of men's college soccer among its members in the United States. For the first time, the tournament expanded in size, increasing from 8 to 16 teams. The tournament final was played at the old Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey on December 7. The Philadelphia Union are an American professional soccer club based in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Union compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference.
