''Armoured Train 14–69'' (russian: Бронепоезд 14–69, translit=Bronepoezd 14–69) is a 1927 Soviet play by Vsevolod Ivanov. Based on his 1922 novel of the same name, it was the first play that he wrote and remains his most important. In creating his adaptation, Ivanov transformed the passive protagonist of his novel into an active exponent of proletarian ideals; the play charts his journey from political indifference to Bolshevik heroism. Set in Eastern Siberia during the Civil War, it dramatises the capture of ammunition from a counter-revolutionary armoured train by a group of partisans led by a peasant farmer, Nikolai Vershinin. It is a four-act play in eight scenes that features almost 50 characters; crowd scenes form a prominent part of its episodic dramatic structure. Nikolai Khmelev
Nikolai Pavlovich Khmelyov russian: Николай Павлович Хмелёв, — 1 November 1945) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor, theater director and pedagogue, associated with the Moscow Art Theatre and later the Yermolova Theatre. Biography Nikolai Khmelyov was born in Sormovo, Nizhny Novgorod, to a working-class family. "A man who was highly ambitious, always dissatisfied with himself and difficult to contact with," he joined the MAT's Second Studio in 1919, soon to become "one of the most intriguing figures of the 'second generation' of MAT actors," according to the theatre historian Inna Solovyova. He excelled in the parts of Tsar Fyodor in ''Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich'' by Aleksey Tolstoy (1935), Karenin in ''Anna Karenina'' (1937), Tuzenbach in '' Three Sisters'' by Anton Chekhov (1940), but before that as Alexey Turbin in '' The Days of the Turbins'' by Mikhail Bulgakov, which brought him critical recognition and fame in 1926.

Nikolai Batalov
Nikolai Petrovich Batalov (russian: Николай Петрович Баталов; 6 December 1899 in Moscow – 10 November 1937 in Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian stage and film actor. Olga Leonardovna Knipper-Chekhova (russian: Ольга Леонардовна Книппер-Чехова, link=no; – 22 March 1959) was a Russian and Soviet stage actress. She was married to Anton Chekhov. Vasili Kachalov
Vasily Ivanovich Kachalov (russian: Василий Иванович Качалов; – 30 September 1948), was one of Russia's most renowned actors. He worked closely and often with Konstantin Stanislavski. He led the so-called Kachalov Group within the Moscow Art Theatre. It was Kachalov who played Hamlet in the Symbolist production of 1911.
