The 2009 Armenian Cup was the 18th season of Armenian knockout football competition. It featured only 8 Premier League teams. The tournament started on 17 March 2009 and ended on 9 May 2009. The defending champions were Ararat Yerevan. Results Quarter-finals The first legs were played on 17 and 18 March 2009. The second legs were played on 7 and 8 April 2009. Football Club Pyunik Yerevan ( hy, Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ Փյունիկ Երևան, Futbolayin Akumb P’yunik Yerevan), commonly known as Pyunik ("Phoenix (mythology), Phoenix"), is an Armenian professional sports club based in the Kentron District, Kentron neighbourhood of Yerevan. Arthur Voskanyan
Artur Voskanyan ( hy, Արթուր Ոսկանյան, born 13 August 1976 in Yerevan) is an Armenian football coach and former player. He is the current head coach of Armenia national under-21 football team. Club career Artur Voskanyan began his career in Zvartnots Echmiadzin, for which he played 11 games in his first season. At that time, he was still 17 years old. Zvartnots soon had a number of unsuccessful performances and soon became SKA-Arai Echmiadzin and was demoted from the Armenian Premier League to the Armenian First League. After leaving the club, Voskanyan moved to Van Yerevan. He managed to play only two seasons for Van, as the club was disbanded after the 1996–97 season. In 1998, Voskanyan joined Tsement Ararat. The club won the 1998 Armenian Premier League that season and also the 1998 Armenian Cup and 1998 Armenian Supercup. Sargis Hovsepyan
Sargis Hovsepyan ( hy, Սարգիս Հովսեփյան; born on 2 November 1972) is an Armenian former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Hovsepyan was the long-time captain of the Armenia national team. He participated in 133 international matches and scored two goals since his debut in the national team's first game in a home friendly match against Moldova on 14 October 1992. Hovsepyan ended his career on 14 November 2012 at the age of 39, just over a month before turning 40 years old. He was the last member of the first Armenia national team to retire. After his final match, he was awarded the Medal of the City Hall. A month after the completion of his playing career, he was appointed director of the Armenia national team. Grigor Meliksetyan ( hy, Գրիգոր Մելիքսեթյան, born on 18 August 1986 in Yerevan) is an Armenian football player, who plays as a goalkeeper. Club career Grigor Meliksetyan is a graduate football school Pyunik Yerevan. Pyunik won the 2007 Armenian Premier League with Meliksetyan as the second goalkeeper. Already in 2008, he was the first goalkeeper of the Yerevan club. Pyunik became 2008 Armenian Premier League champion again the next year. After the 2008 season, Meliksetyan was awarded the "Most Reliable Goalkeeper" title by the Football Federation of Armenia. Samvel Melkonyan ( hy, Սամվել Մելքոնյան, born on 15 March 1984 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union) is an Armenian former footballer who played as a winger. Samvel was also a member of the Armenia national football team, participated in 29 international matches since his debut at home 2006 World Cup qualification match against the Netherlands on 3 September 2005.
