Arlandastad Golf
Arlandastad Golf is a 36-hole golfing complex situated near Arlanda Airport 35 km north of Stockholm, Sweden. It has hosted the Scandinavian Masters and SAS Masters on the European Tour. History The parkland layout Masters Course was designed by Sunde Linde and inaugurated in June 1993 by Anders Forsbrand and Helen Alfredsson. In August 2001 the New Course, shorter and more links-like in character, was opened. The complex was conceived and built by real estate developer Leif Wåhlin, and has since inception been owned and operated by his privately held real estate company, Wåhlin Fastigheter AB. The Masters Course hosted the Skandia PGA Open on the Challenge Tour in 2004 and 2005, before hosting Scandinavian Masters and SAS Masters on the European Tour in 2007 and 2008. Anders Forsbrand
Anders Gunnar Vilhelm Forsbrand (born 1 April 1961) is a Swedish professional golfer who formerly competed on the European Tour. Early life Forsbrand was born in Filipstad, Sweden. He began playing golf at Uddeholm Golf Club, a small club with a 9-hole course in Värmland, Sweden. He later came to represent nearby and bigger Karlstad Golf Club, with an 18-hole course and better practice facilities. His younger brother Vilhelm, born 1970, also became a professional golfer and came to win twice on the Challenge Tour. Forsbrand won the unofficial 1977 Swedish Youth Championship, Colgate Cup, at his age level (16 years old). Peter Hanson
Peter Daniel Hanson (born 4 October 1977) is a Swedish former professional golfer who played on the European Tour and has played on the PGA Tour. Early life Hanson was born in Svedala, in Skåne county in the south of Sweden. He was first introduced to the game by neighbors and started playing at Bokskogen Golf Club, where he was coached by club professional Jan Larsson. Amateur career Hanson was a member of the Swedish team at age 19, finishing fourth, at the 1997 European Amateur Team Championship at Portmarnock Golf Club, Ireland. As an amateur, he won three times on the professional Swedish Golf Tour in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, he also won the Brabazon Trophy at Formby Golf Club. 2008 European Tour
The 2008 European Tour was the 37th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began in November 2007 and consisted of 50 official money events, a drop of two from the previous year. This included seven major championships and World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, 11 in Asia, six in the United States, four in South Africa, one in Australia and one in New Zealand. The Order of Merit was won by Robert Karlsson, the first Swedish golfer to do so. The Golfer of the Year award was given to Pádraig Harrington, who won two major championships during the season and finished second in the Order of Merit. Mikko Ilonen
Mikko Ilonen (born 18 December 1979) is a retired Finnish professional golfer who played on the European Tour, winning five times. He is considered to be the greatest golfer from Finland. Career Ilonen was born in Lahti, Finland. He won the 2000 Amateur Championship, and turned pro in 2001. He played mainly on the European Tour, where he five events. He won his first professional tournament at the 2007 Indonesia Open, an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour. He was the first Finn to win a European Tour event and to feature in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. In 2007 he finished the season in a career best 34th on the European Tour Order of Merit. 2007 European Tour
The 2007 European Tour was the 36th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with six tournaments in late 2006 and consisted of record 52 official money events, surpassing the 2005 and 2006 seasons. This included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, which were also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 29 events took place in Europe, 12 in Asia, six in the United States, three in South Africa, one in Australia and one in New Zealand. The PGA Tour's introduction of the FedEx Cup prompted the European Tour to extend the season into November and several tournaments moved away from their traditional dates. The 2005 Challenge Tour was the 17th season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. The Swedish PGA Championship for men is a golf tournament played annually in Sweden since 1970. It has been an event on the Swedish Golf Tour schedule since 1984 and the Nordic Golf League since 1999. History From its beginning in 1970, it was a championship for members of the PGA of Sweden. Since 1986, the tournament has been open to foreign players. The tournament was part of the Challenge Tour from 1990 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2005. Helen Alfredsson
Helen Christine Alfredsson (born 9 April 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played primarily on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is also a life member of the Ladies European Tour. She won the LPGA major Nabisco Dinah Shore and twice finished second in the U.S. Women's Open. She also won the Women's British Open once and the Evian Masters three times before those events were designated as majors in women's golf by the LPGA Tour. The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe.
