Arjun Singh (Himachal Pradesh Politician)
Arjun Singh (born 02 February 1963) is an Indian politician, who currently serves as Member of Legislative Assembly from Jawali constituency. Singh won first time from Jawali constituency in 2017 state assembly elections. Early life and education Arjun Singh was born on 2 February 1963 in Chalwara village of Jawali tehsil in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh to Rattan Chand and Leela Devi. Arjun Singh graduated from Wazir Ram Singh College Dehri, Kangra. He went on to complete an M. A. (History) from Himachal Pradesh University and a B. Ed. from MET college of Education, Sopore (in Jammu and Kashmir). Politics Singh's active state political journey started in 2012 and he associated with Himachal BJP organization. Kangra District
Kangra is the most populous district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala is the administrative headquarters of the district. History Kangra is known for having the oldest serving Royal Dynasty in the world, the Katoch. In 1758, Raja Ghamand Chand was appointed ''nazim'' or governor of Jullundur Doab under the Afghans. Ghamand Chand was a brave and strong ruler who restored the prestige of Kangra. As he was unable to capture Kangra fort, he built another fort at Tira Sujanpur on the left bank of the Beas, almost opposite to Alampur on a hill overlooking the town. He died in 1774 and was succeeded by his son, Tegh Chand, who died too soon in 1775. Kangra was annexed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Sikh Empire in 1810. Kangra became a district of British India in 1846, when it was ceded to British India at the conclusion of the First Anglo-Sikh War. Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is an Indian public state university at Summer Hill in the state capital city Shimla. It is close to the vicinity of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. It is wholly financed by the government of Himachal Pradesh and the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. History Himachal Pradesh University was established on 22 July 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Sopore, known as Suyyapur in antiquity, is a city in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is north-west of Srinagar, and north-east from the city of Baramulla. Sopore Town has Asia's second largest fruit mandi (wholesale market). It is also known as the Apple Town of Kashmir. Apart from fruit mandi, Sopore is home to one of the Asia's largest freshwater lakes, Wular Lake.
