Argentina National Volleyball Team
The Argentina national volleyball team represents Argentina in international men's volleyball and is controlled by the Argentine Volleyball Federation (''Federación del Voleibol Argentino'' in Spanish, and abbreviated "FeVA"). The Argentina team made their international debut at the South American Championship in Rio de Janeiro in 1951, claiming fourth place. They competed in their first World Championship 1960 in the same city, where they finished 11th. The team's best achievements are the bronze medal at the 1982 World Championship, the bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics and two gold medals at the 1995 and 2015 Pan American Games. Throughout the 1990s it was usually ranked among the first ten. In recent years, though without achieving any medal, the team finished 4th at the 2000 and 5th at the 2004, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Argentine Volleyball Federation
The Argentine Volleyball Federation ( es, Federación del Voleibol Argentino, mostly known for its acronym FeVA) is the body which governs the sport of volleyball in Argentina. The Federation controls and organises national championships at senior and youth levels, and is responsible for the men's and women's national teams The FeVA also controls the practise of similar disciplines such as beach volley. History Background Volleyball was introduced in Argentina in 1912 by the YMCA, with the first Federation established in 1932. That body organised not only volleyball but cestoball, ruling both sports. The first championship organised by the federation was held in 1933. The Federation published the first rules of the game in 1936, then extending to other aspects of the game such as transfers and players classifications, or size and weight of the reglementary ball. 2018 South American Games
The 2018 South American Games was a multi-sport event that took place in Cochabamba, Bolivia. It was the 11th edition of the ODESUR South American Games. A total of 373 sporting events are scheduled to be contested across a variety of sports. Background Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru submitted a bid to ODESUR to become host. Following a unanimous decision, the organization awarded it to the city of Cochabamba, as the other cities Lima and Puerto La Cruz withdrew their candidacies.
