Argasi
Argasi ( el, Αργάσι) is a village and a community in the southern part of the island of Zakynthos. It is part of the municipal unit of Zakynthos (city). The community includes the village Kalliteros. It is situated on the east coast of the island, at the northwestern foot of the hill Skopos. It is 3 km southeast of Zakynthos city and 3 km northeast of Kalamaki. Argasi is a popular beach resort. The beach is very small here and not recommended by locals for visiting. Zakynthos (city)
Zakynthos ( el, Ζάκυνθος, Zákynthos ) or Zante ( el, Τζάντε, Tzánte), is a city and a former municipality on the island of Zakynthos, Ionian Islands, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Zakynthos, of which it is a municipal unit. It is the capital of the island of Zakynthos. Apart from the official name Zakynthos, it is also called Chora (i.e. the Town), a common denomination in Greece when the name of the island itself is the same as the name of the principal town. The municipal unit of Zákynthos lies in the easternmost part of the island and has a land area of and a population of 16,810 at the 2011 census. It is subdivided into the communities Zakynthos (pop. 9,773), Ampelokipoi (1,930), Argasi (1,266), Vasilikos (799), Gaitani (1,899) and Bochali (1,143). Ionian Islands (region)
The Ionian Islands Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Ιονίων Νήσων, translit=Periféria Ioníon Níson, ) is the smallest by area of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece located in the Ionian Sea. It comprises all the Ionian Islands except Kythera, which, although historically part of the island group, was separated and integrated to the Attica Region. Demographics The population of the Ionian Islands in 2011 was 207,855, decreased by 1.5% compared to the population in 2001. Zakynthos (also spelled Zakinthos; el, Ζάκυνθος, Zákynthos ; it, Zacinto ) or Zante (, , ; el, Τζάντε, Tzánte ; from the Venetian form) is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea. Skopos (Zakynthos)
Skopos ( el, Σκοπός, before 1926: Σέτινα - ''Setina''; Macedonian: Сетина, ''Setina'') is a village in Florina regional unit, Greece. History There were fortified palaces of Bulgarian Tsar Samuel at the beginning of the 11th century, near the place where today's village is. In the autumn of 1017 the fortress was captured and burned down by the Byzantine Emperor Basil II. Soon afterwards, the Battle of Setina took place. In it the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Vladislav opposed the Byzantines, but he was defeated. In 1845 the Russian slavist Victor Grigorovich recorded "Tsrevo" as a mainly Bulgarian village. Kalamaki, Zakynthos
Kalamaki ( el, Καλαμάκι) is the name of a beach resort town on the Greek island of Zakynthos. It is located approximately 3 km northeast of the busy resort of Laganas, although despite the close proximity it maintains a much more relaxed atmosphere than its neighbour.
