Archaeological Site Of La Ribera De Algaida
The archaeological site of La Ribera de Algaida or Ribera de Turaniana is one of the most important human settlements in the history of AlmerÃa because of his extension and his long occupation. It has an extension from 20 to 30 ha, and it was occupied since the late Copper Age (from Argaric culture until Roman Era). It was discovered in 1859 and it is located in Aguadulce (AlmerÃa). Aguadulce (AlmerÃa)
Aguadulce is a Spanish town in the municipality of Roquetas de Mar, province of AlmerÃa, in the autonomous community of AndalucÃa. It is located in the region of Poniente Almeriense, about 14 kilometres from the city of AlmerÃa, along the national road ( N-340a) and 14 km along the dual carriageway (A-7) In 2018, it had a population of 16176 inhabitants (INE), although during summer the population triples due to tourism, the main economic engine of the town. Argaric Culture
The Argaric culture, named from the type site El Argar near the town of Antas, in what is now the province of AlmerÃa in southeastern Spain, is an Early Bronze Age culture which flourished between c. 2200 BC and 1550 BC. The Argaric culture was characterised by its early adoption of bronze, which briefly allowed this tribe local dominance over other, Copper Age peoples. El Argar also developed sophisticated pottery and ceramic techniques, which they traded with other Mediterranean tribes. The center of this civilization is displaced to the north and its extension and influence is clearly greater than that of its ancestor.
