''Arcadia'' is a Belgian-Dutch science fiction television series. After a catastrophic deluge, Flemish and Dutch people are living seemingly peacefully together in the utopian society called Arcadia, until corruption surfaces. The series is claimed to be the most expensive television project ever in the Low Countries. Story In a dystopian world, every resident of Arcadia is monitored via an implanted chip by the security agencies ''het Schild'' (English: the Shield) and ''het Vizier'' (English: the Oversight), making crime seem impossible. The nation of Arcadia is governed by the Lords of the Dome with the Guardian at its head. Faithful Arcadians can build a better future by earning citizen points. ARD (broadcaster)
ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services – in particular the introduction of a joint television network. The ARD has a budget of €6.9 billion, 22,612 employees and is the largest public broadcaster network in the world. The budget comes primarily from a licence fee which every household, company and public institution are required by law to pay. For an ordinary household the fee is currently €18.36 per month. Households living on welfare are exempt from the fee. SWR Fernsehen is a German regional television channel targeting the states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. It is produced by Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and is one of eight regional "third channels" broadcast by the ARD members. History The channel started on 5 April 1969 as a collaboration between Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR), Südwestfunk (SWF) and SR named "Südwest 3". SDR and SWF merged in 1998 to form SWR and the channel was renamed "Südwest Fernsehen". The name "SWR Fernsehen" was adopted in September 2006. WDR Fernsehen is a German free-to-air television network owned and operated by Westdeutscher Rundfunk and serving North Rhine-Westphalia. It is one of the seven regional "third programmes" television stations that are offered within the federal ARD network. Wim Opbrouck (born 5 February 1969) is a Flemish actor and singer. He is especially known for his work on stage. Opbrouck comes from Bavikhove, part of Harelbeke and studied at the Herman Teirlinck Studio. As an actor, he joined the Blue Monday Company. Maarten Heijmans (born 24 December 1983 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch Emmy-winning actor. Career In 2007 he graduated from the Amsterdamse Toneelschool & Kleinkunstacademie (Amsterdam Theatre School & Kleinkunst Academy) where he studied Drama for four years. Since his graduation, Maarten has performed in several theatre plays and television shows.
