Arab Orchestra Of Nazareth
The Arab Orchestra of Nazareth is an Israeli orchestra that plays Arab and Mediterranean music. It was founded in 1991 by conductor and musicologist Suhil Radwan. The Nazareth Orchestra performs in Israel and abroad. It has performed in world music festivals as well as Jazz festivals in New York's Central Park, in many European capitals and in the Pas Festival in Morocco. The orchestra's soloists took part in The Samarkand International Oriental Music Competition, winning third prize; in the Earth Festival in Kenya and have also performed in the successful Israeli film ''The Orchestra Visit''. The orchestra has been part of the Israel Festival, the Carmiel Dance Festival, Jaffa Festival, Oud Festival of Tel Aviv and the Culture Of Peace Festival. The London Sinfonietta is an English contemporary chamber orchestra founded in 1968 and based in London. The ensemble has headquarters at Kings Place and is Resident Orchestra at the Southbank Centre. Amorphis is a Finnish heavy metal band founded by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari, and Esa Holopainen in 1990. Initially, the band was a death metal act, but on later albums they evolved into playing other genres, including progressive metal, and folk metal. Orphaned Land is an Israeli heavy metal band, formed in 1991 under the name Resurrection (changing their name in 1992 to the current name), that combines Israeli Jewish, Mizrahi, and other West Asian influences.
