A referendum on convening a Constituent Assembly was held in Venezuela on 25 April 1999. Venezuela (; ), officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ( es, link=no, República Bolivariana de Venezuela), is a country on the northern coast of South America, consisting of a continental landmass and many islands and islets in the Caribbean Sea. A referendum (plural: referendums or less commonly referenda) is a direct vote by the electorate on a proposal, law, or political issue.
