Apollo Ghosts
Apollo Ghosts is a Canadian indie rock Jangle-punk band formed in Nanaimo in 2009 and based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The original band was singer and guitarist Adrian Teacher, bassist Jason Oliver, and drummer Amanda Panda. Jarrett K (Jarrett Samson) later joined on Bass and Jason Oliver moved to second guitar. They reunited on January 20, 2019, with members Teacher, Panda, Robbie Nall and Luke N. History The group released their first album, ''Hastings Sunrise'', in 2009. That year, they also released the five-track EP ''Forgotten Triangle''. They followed up with ''Mount Benson'' in 2010. The latter album was a long-listed nominee for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize. Also in 2010, they contributed seven songs to ''Cedar Street'', a 13-track split with Divine Prophet and Thee Ahs. Nanaimo
Nanaimo ( ) is a city on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. As of the Canada 2021 Census, 2021 census, it had a population of 99,863, and it is known as "The Harbour City." The Downtown Eastside (DTES) is a neighbourhood in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. One of the city's oldest neighbourhoods, the DTES is the site of a complex set of social issues including disproportionately high levels of drug use, homelessness, poverty, crime, mental illness and sex work. It is also known for its strong community resilience, history of social activism, and artistic contributions. Around the beginning of the 20th century, the DTES was the political, cultural and retail centre of Vancouver. Over several decades, the city centre gradually shifted westwards and the DTES became a poor, although relatively stable, neighbourhood. Calvin Johnson (born November 1, 1962) is an American guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, music producer, and disc jockey. Known for his uniquely deep and droning singing voice, Johnson was a founding member of the bands Cool Rays, Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic Sound System, The Go Team and The Halo Benders.
