Apica River
The Apica River is a freshwater tributary of the Pikauba River, flowing in the unorganized territory of Lac-Ministuk, Quebec, Lac-Ministuk, in the Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, in the provinces and territories of Canada, province of Quebec, in Canada. The Apica River flows through a narrow, steep valley. Visitors can admire the panorama from a rest area located a few kilometers north of the Quebec Route 169, route 169 bridge over it. This river turns out to be the outlet of a series of small aligned lakes, located to the south, Lake Micoine constituting its head. Mont-Apica, Quebec
Mont-Apica is an unorganized territory in the Canadian province of Quebec, located in the regional county municipality of Lac-Saint-Jean-Est. It had a population of 0 in the Canada 2011 Census, and covered a land area of 12.68 km2, entirely within the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. The territory was home to the former RCAF Station Mont Apica, located along Quebec Route 169 at the base of the namesake Mount Apica. Part of the Pinetree Line and NORAD, the station became operational in 1952 and had a staff of some 500 persons at its peak. Political and technological changes made the station redundant and it closed in 1990. The Apica River, a small tributary of the Pikauba River, flows through the territory in a narrow and deep valley at the foot of the high Mount Apica. The river and mountain were spelled as Upika or Upica until 1961, an Innu word meaning "narrowing river". RCAF Station Mont Apica
Canadian Forces Station Mont Apica (CFS Mont Apica) was a radar station of the Pinetree Line, located in Mont-Apica, Quebec, Canada, during the Cold War. The station opened as RCAF Station Mont Apica in 1952 and had a staff of some 500 persons at its peak. 2452 AC&W squadron, a reserve unit from Quebec City, trained at Mont Apica until the squadron was disbanded in 1960. Political and technological changes made the station redundant and it closed in 1990. No. 12 Radar Squadron, Mont Apica's lodger unit, was transferred to CFB Bagotville.
