Antonio Lopez (February 11, 1943 – March 17, 1987) was a fashion illustrator whose work appeared in such publications as ''Vogue'', ''Harper's Bazaar'', ''Elle'', ''Interview'' and ''The New York Times''. Several books collecting his illustrations have been published. In his obituary, the ''New York Times'' called him a "major fashion illustrator." He generally signed his works as "Antonio." Biography Antonio Lopez was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico. When he was seven years old, his family moved to New York City. His parents, Maria Luisa Cruz and Francisco Lopez influenced him to apply his artistic talents to fashion. He attended the Traphagen School of Fashion, the High School of Art and Design, and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Lopez graduated from Traphagen School of Fashion in 1955 in Illustration. Antonio López (shipwreck)
''Antonio López'' was a merchant steamship that was built in Scotland in 1882 for the Spanish Compañía Transatlántica Española (CTE). A United States Navy auxiliary cruiser sank her in the Spanish–American War when she was trying to run the US blockade to supply materiél to the Spanish garrison on Puerto Rico. She is now the only known Spanish shipwreck in US waters from the war. Her wreck site, in of water off Dorado, Puerto Rico, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1997. Building William Denny and Brothers built ''Antonio López'' in Dumbarton, Scotland, launching her on November 8, 1881 and completing her in 1882. Antonio López y López, 1st Marquess of Comillas, Grandee, GE (1817 in Comillas – 1883 in Barcelona), was a Spanish businessman, alleged slave trader and shipping magnate. He was the founder of a number of important companies, and one of the wealthiest men in the second half of the 19th century. After his death his son Claudio López Bru took over the responsibility of running the companies his father had founded.
