Adam Ant
Stuart Leslie Goddard, better known as Adam Ant (born 3 November 1954), is an English singer, musician, and actor. He gained popularity as the lead singer of new wave group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in many films and television episodes. Born in Marylebone, London, Ant began his musical career playing bass in the band Bazooka Joe. From 1977 to 1982 he performed with Adam and the Ants, and their debut album ''Dirk Wears White Sox'' (1979) reached number one on the UK Independent Albums Chart. Prior to recording his second album as Adam and the Ants, he asked producer Malcolm McLaren to manage his band, who instead took his backing band to form Bow Wow Wow. Ant regrouped with new members, including Marco Pirroni, to release his second album ''Kings of the Wild Frontier'' (1980). It reached number one in the UK Album Chart, spawned three ...

Strip (Adam Ant Album)
''Strip'' is the second solo studio album by Adam Ant, and counting his work with Adam and the Ants, his fifth studio album. It was released in 1983 and a stylistic departure from Ant's previous musical efforts. This record is much less rock-oriented and more grounded in pop and dance. Ant continued his songwriting collaboration with Marco Pirroni for the album. Along with Richard James Burgess and Ant, Pirroni was one of the album’s main producers. The album did not perform as well in Ant's home country as his previous albums and performed modestly in the US. Critics generally reviewed it unfavorably. Production Phil Collins plays drums on "Puss 'n Boots" and "Strip", Collins also aided in production duties for the two tracks he played on, and enlisted Hugh Padgham to assist with the production and engineering of those sessions. Singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad, of ABBA fame, also performs the female spoken part on "Strip". Content The cover photograph was fashioned after ac ...

Written by Adam Ant and Marco Pirroni, and featuring on the album of the same name, it was Adam and the Ants' second number-one single in a row and was the fifth biggest hit of the year 1981. Music video Band member and producer Merrick (Chris Hughes), normally on drums, played a stirring riff on an open-tuned acoustic guitar throughout the song. Lead guitarist Pirroni mimed to this part on both an orchestral harp and a miniature harp in the promotional video. The music video was notable for its extravagant production compared to the videos being produced at the time. It featured Adam Ant in a male ''Cinderella "Cinderella",; french: link=no, Cendrillon; german: link=no, Aschenputtel) or "The Little Glass Slipper", is a folk tale with thousands of variants throughout the world.Dundes, Alan. "Antmusic" is a song by English rock band Adam and the Ants, released as the third single in the UK from the album ''Kings of the Wild Frontier''. "Antmusic" (often stylised as 'Antmusic') peaked at No. 2 in the UK in January 1981, being held off the top by the re-release of John Lennon's "Imagine (John Lennon song), Imagine" after his murder in New York City on 8 December 1980. In Australia, the single spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Kent Music Report and earned the band Music recording sales certification, platinum certification for sales of over 100,000 copies. Kings Of The Wild Frontier (Adam And The Ants Song)
"Kings of the Wild Frontier" was the first 7" single by Adam and the Ants to feature the two-drummer Burundi beat for which the band became famous. It was also the first written by Adam Ant & Marco Pirroni, and their first single on CBS Records after leaving Do It Records. Originally released on 25 July 1980, it peaked at number 48 on the UK Singles Chart. Following the breakthrough success of " Dog Eat Dog" and 'Antmusic' (numbers 4 and 2, respectively), "Kings of the Wild Frontier" was re-released in February 1981. This time it reached number 2. "The extent of its success surprised us," Pirroni recalled. "We'd written the music as a soundtrack to the visuals – very Eighties. I took that cowboy guitar twang from Ennio Morricone's ''The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'' soundtrack. I was trying to get everything I liked into that record. And it worked." Adam's ever-changing line-up of Ants included, on this song, Pirroni on guitar, Kevin Mooney on bass guitar and, on drums, bot ...

Cartrouble
"Cartrouble" is a song by Adam and the Ants, released as a single in March 1980 on Do It Records. It peaked at number 33 on the UK Singles Chart. "Cartrouble (Parts 1 & 2)" "Cartrouble (Parts 1 & 2)" appeared on Adam and the Ants' debut album ''Dirk Wears White Sox'', also on Do It Records. It features Matthew Ashman on guitar, Dave Barbarossa on drums and Andy Warren on bass guitar. A remix of this version appeared on the 12-inch edition of '' The Antmusic EP'' in early 1982. This replaced the original on the 1995 CD release of ''Dirk Wears White Sox'' (early pressings of which erroneously featured the single verson described below). The 2004 reissue of the same album includes all three versions, with the original returning as track 1. Music videos of "Cartrouble Part 2" and another album track, "Tabletalk" were film ...

B-side
The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. Nevertheless, some artists and labels continue to employ the terms ''A-side'' and ''B-side'' metaphorically to describe the type of content a particular release features, with ''B-side'' sometimes representing a "bonus" track or other material. The ...

Allmusic
AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. After buying it he discovered it was a "flaccid latter-day rehash". Frustrated with the labeling, he researched using metadata to create a music guide. In 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he founded ''All Music Guide' ...

Top Of The Pops
''Top of the Pops'' (''TOTP'') is a British Record chart, music chart television programme, made by the BBC and originally broadcast weekly between 1January 1964 and 30 July 2006. The programme was the world's longest-running weekly music show. For most of its history, it was broadcast on Thursday evenings on BBC One. Each show consisted of performances of some of the week's best-selling popular music records, usually excluding any tracks moving down the chart, including a rundown of that week's singles chart. This was originally the Top 20, though this varied throughout the show's history. The Top 30 was used from 1969, and the Top 40 from 1984. Dusty Springfield's "I Only Want to Be with You" was the first song featured on ''TOTP'', while the Rolling Stones were the first band to perform, with "I Wanna Be Your Man". Snow Patrol were the last act to play live on the weekly show when they performed their single "Chasing Cars". Special editions were broadcast on Christmas Day ...

Dog Eat Dog (Adam And The Ants Song)
"Dog Eat Dog" is the opening track on the Adam and the Ants album ''Kings of the Wild Frontier''. It was written by Adam Ant & Marco Pirroni, and features the two-drummer Burundi beat for which Adam and the Ants would become famous. Released as a 7" single on 3 October 1980, it was their first top ten hit. ''Top of the Pops'' Shortly after the single's release, the band performed "Dog Eat Dog" on ''Top of the Pops'' on 16 October 1980, helping launch the single to number 4 on the UK Singles Chart, and increasing anticipation for the forthcoming album ''Kings of the Wild Frontier'' (released 3 November 1980). Lyrics In his 2007 autobiography, ''Stand and Deliver'', Adam said that "Dog Eat Dog" was inspired by a Margaret Thatcher quote he'd read in a newspaper. The expression refers to a situation of fierce competition in which people are willing to harm each other in order to succeed. The lyrics of this song are about bands in competition with each other, and doing just that. "Ph ...

Zerox (song)
"Zerox" is a song written by Adam Ant from Adam and the Ants' debut album ''Dirk Wears White Sox''. Adam's ever changing line-up of Ants on this track include Dave Barbarossa on drums, Matthew Ashman on guitar & Andy Warren on bass guitar. The track has been included on the compilations ''Antics in the Forbidden Zone'', '' Antmusic: The Very Best of Adam Ant'', ''The Very Best Of Adam And The Ants'', ''Antbox'', ''The Essential Adam Ant'' & ''Stand & Deliver: The Very Best of Adam & the Ants''. The cover portrays ''Image in Motion'' (1913), a photograph by the Italian Futurist Anton Bragaglia, with the name of the band and the song superimposed over it. Lyrics The title is a reference to the Xerox photocopier. Whereas Xerox machines are used to make paper copies of documents and other visual images, it is used as a metaphor for plagiarism in the song's lyrics (example: I'm never bored, I'll steal your chords). The title also reference's David Bowie's description of himself a ...
