Anthony Lucas (American Football)
Anthony Lucas (born November 20, 1976) is an American former football wide receiver. He played college football at Arkansas. He was selected in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2000 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). Early life Lucas was born in Tallulah, Louisiana to Gerald and Rena Lucas. He then attended McCall High School before attending the University of Arkansas. As a freshman in 1995, Lucas appeared in 11 games, and recorded 27 receptions for 526 yards and four touchdowns. His sophomore season in 1996 was cut short during the season opener where we recorded three receptions for 32 yards before being injured and missing the rest of the season. As a redshirt sophomore in 1997, he again appeared in 11 games, recording 27 receptions for 495 yards and four touchdowns. He also carried the ball one time for three yards. The injured reserve list ( IR list) is a designation used in North American professional sports leagues for athletes who suffer injuries and become unable to play. The exact name of the list varies by league; it is known as "injured reserve" in the National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL), the "injured list" in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and the injured list (historically known as the "disabled list") in Major League Baseball (MLB). The National Basketball Association (NBA) does not have a direct analog to an injured reserve list, instead using a more general-purpose "inactive list" that does not require a player to be injured. Injured reserve lists are used because the rules of these leagues allow for only a certain numbers of players on each team's roster. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster.
