Anthony Grey
Anthony Grey (born 5 July 1938) is a British journalist and author. While working for Reuters, he was imprisoned by the Chinese government for 27 months from 1967 to 1969. He has written a series of historical novels and non-fiction books, including several relating to his detention. Career Detention in China (1967–1969) In July 1967, while working for Reuters in Beijing covering China's Cultural Revolution, Grey was confined to the basement of his house by the Chinese government under the leadership of Mao Zedong, ostensibly for spying but really in retaliation for the colonial British government jailing eight pro-Chinese media journalists who had violated emergency regulations during the leftist riots in British Hong Kong. China demanded the release of the eight to secure Grey's release. While the eight were eventually let go, China then demanded the release of a further thirteen Chinese people jailed in British Hong Kong. This was refused. Grey was able to communicate ...

Anthony Grey, 3rd Baron Lucas, styled Earl of Harold (21 February 1695 – 21 July 1723) was a Kingdom of Great Britain, British Peerage, peer and courtier. Grey was the eldest son of Henry Grey, 1st Duke of Kent, and his wife, Jemima Grey, Duchess of Kent, Jemima Crew. On 17 February 1718, Anthony married Mary, Countess of Harold, Lady Mary Tufton, a daughter and coheiress of Thomas Tufton, 6th Earl of Thanet, by his wife Lady Catharine Cavendish. He was called to the House of Lords, by writ of acceleration in his father's Baron Lucas, barony of Lucas, on 8 November 1718. Lord Harold was a Lord of the Bedchamber to George, Prince of Wales, later King George II, from 1720 until his death in 1723, aged 28, from choking on an Ear (botany), ear of barley, the beard of which stuck in his throat. Rev. Anthony Grey (1557 – 9 November 1643) was Earl of Kent from 1639 to his death. He was a son of George Grey by Margery, daughter of Gerard Salvaine of Croxdale. George was the apparently only son of Anthony Grey of Brancepeth, a son of George Grey, 2nd Earl of Kent, by his second wife Katherine (or Katharine or Catherine), daughter of William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke. In 1639, Grey succeeded his childless second cousin once removed Henry Grey, 8th Earl of Kent. Henry was a great-grandson of Henry Grey, 4th Earl of Kent, another son of the 2nd Earl. A priest in the Church of England, Grey was rector at Aston Flamville and later Burbage. Family and issue Grey married Magdalene, daughter of William Purefoy of Caldecote by Catherine (or Katherine) Wigston.
