Bertiella (tapeworm)
''Bertiella'' is a genus of cestode tapeworm parasites that primarily infects nonhuman primates, rodents and Australian marsupials. Infections by ''Bertiella'' are known as bertielliasis. Occasional human infections have been documented by one of two species: ''Bertiella studeri'', or '' Bertiella mucronata''. ''Bertiella'' transmission is through oribatid mites that are present in the soil of problem areas, and can be easily prevented by avoiding contact with nonhuman primates, rodents and soil in these areas. Pathology Of 29 different ''Bertiella'' species, only two can infect humans: ''Bertiella studeri'' (majority of human cases), and ''Bertiella mucronata''. Infected patients are usually asymptomatic. Often individuals will have no fever and show no signs of internal organ damage or distress. Although symptoms are unique to each individual, an infected human may suffer from gastrointestinal irritation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, anorexia, weight loss, vomit and/or cons ...

''Diandrya'' is a genus of cestode parasites that are known from marmots (''Marmota'' spp.) in North America. The species ''Diandrya composita'', described along with the genus by J. G. Darrah in 1930, is known from all North American marmots except the woodchuck (''M. monax''). The species '' D. vancouverensis'', described by T. F. Mace and C. D. Shepard in 1981, is only known from the Vancouver marmot (''M. vancouverensis''), an island endemic on Vancouver Island Vancouver Island is an island in the northeastern Pacific Ocean and part of the Canadian Provinces and territories of Canada, province of British Columbia. Moniezia
''Moniezia'' a genus of tapeworms that are parasitic in mammals, including sheep, goat and cattle. It comprises four known species such as '' M. expansa'', ''M. benedeni'', ''M. autumnalis'' and ''M. baeri''. '' M. expansa'' is the most well known species within the genus because of its high prevalence. Members of the genus are among the largest cestodes reaching up to 10 m in length. They inhabit the small intestine of mammalian host. Their life cycle is indirect requiring intermediate host, which are oribatid mites Oribatida (formerly Cryptostigmata), also known as oribatid mites, moss mites or beetle mites, are an order of mites, in the "chewing Acariformes" clade Sarcoptiformes. Anoplocephala Perfoliata
''Anoplocephala perfoliata'' is the most common intestinal tapeworm of horses, and an agent responsible for some cases of equine colic. Description Between 8 and 25 centimeters long, ''Anoplocephala perfoliata'' is part of the order Cyclophillidea and is one of the three tapeworm species that can infect horses. This parasite is the most common intestinal tapeworm of horses in the world and is one of the top causes of equine colic. Any horses that have access to pastures and grazing are likely to have an ''A. perfoliata'' tapeworm in their body and experience no symptoms. The other two species which can infect horses are '' A. magna'' and '' Paranoplocephala mamillana''. ''A. perfoliata'' can be found in the intestinal tract of a horse at the ileocecal junction as well within the cecum and the ileum themselves. Life cycle This parasite follows the general Cyclophillidean life cycle diagrammed in Figure 1. These parasites prefer rich, grassy areas and are not often found in ari ...
