Anje Kremer
Anje Kremer (also known as Ans Kremer, born 12 February 1943) is a Dutch-born New Zealander who is a former competitive speed skater. Born in the Netherlands. Kremer emigrated to New Zealand in February 1970. She started speed skating in 1971. In 1973, Kremer was part of New Zealand's first speed skating team to compete in an international competition. Speed skating is a competitive form of ice skating in which the competitors racing, race each other in travelling a certain distance on Ice skate, skates. Types of speed skating are long track speed skating, short track speed skating, and marathon speed skating. In the Olympic Games, long-track speed skating is usually referred to as just "speed skating", while short-track speed skating is known as "short track". The International Skating Union (ISU), the governing body of competitive ice sports, refers to long track as "speed skating" and short track as "short track skating". South Island
The South Island, also officially named , is the larger of the two major islands of New Zealand in surface area, the other being the smaller but more populous North Island.
