Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat, in the state capital Gandhinagar. Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from single-member constituencies (seats). It has a term of 5 years unless it is dissolved sooner. 13 constituencies are reserved for scheduled castes and 27 constituencies for scheduled tribes. From its majority party group or by way of a grand coalition cabinet of its prominent members,the state's Executive namely the Government of Gujarat is formed. Since 1995 the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is controlled by the Bharatiya Janata Party with a majority after elections. 1990 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
The 8th Gujarat Legislative Assembly election was held in 1990. No party won the majority. Janata Dal (JD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 70 and 67 seats respectively. Indian National Congress won only 33 seats, compared to 149 seats in previous legislative election. The alliance of BJP and JD formed the government under the chief ministership of Chimanbhai Patel of JD and deputy chief ministership of Keshubhai Patel of BJP. Nimaben Bhaveshbhai Acharya is a Member of Legislative assembly from Anjar constituency in Gujarat for its 12th legislative assembly. She previously served on the Gujarat family planning council. Anjar, Gujarat
Anjar is a town, tehsil, township and municipality of the Kachchh district in the state of Gujarat, India. Founded in 650 AD, Anjar is a culturally diverse town of historic importance in the region. It is home to several historic religious temples, including the Jesal-Toral Shrines built in honour of a fourteenth century couple, whose lives inspired works of art and cinema. 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
The 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Gujarat in December 2012 for all 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Incumbent Chief Minister Narendra Modi of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), in power since 2002, was running for his fourth term. The leader of the opposition was Shaktisinh Gohil of the Indian National Congress (INC). Elections were held in two phases, the first on 13 December and the second on 17 December 2012. Total voting turnout of both phases was 71.32%, highest since 1980. Results were declared on 20 December 2012. 2007 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
Gujarat's twelfth legislative election was held in 2007. In this election, the BJP led by Narendra Modi won 117 seats out of 182 (ten seats fewer than in 2002). Congress improved its performance and won 59 seats (eight more than last election). Modi fought elections in Maninagar and won with a major majority.
