History Angul railway station developed during the expansion of industrial carriageway and corridor of NALCO Aluminium Plant, FCI and NTPC. Cuttack–Sambalpur Line
The Cuttack–Sambalpur line is a railway line connecting the cities of Cuttack with the Sambalpur, in the Indian state of Odisha. Geography The Cuttack–Sambalpur line traverses the center of Odisha running along the river Mahanadi. Its route connects four districts of Odisha: Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul and Sambalpur. It connects the Mahanadi Coalfields in Talcher and Nalco in Angul to Howrah–Chennai main line in the east and Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line in the west. East Coast Railway Zone
The East Coast Railway (abbreviated ECoR) is one of the 19 railway zones of Indian Railways. It came into existence on 1 April 2003. The headquarters of the zone are at Bhubaneswar, Odisha History Consequent upon the parliament's approval, East Coast Railway was the first of the seven new zones to be inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India H. D. Deve Gowda on 8 August 1996. The Officer-on-Special Duty took over charge of the newly declared Zone on 16 September 1996. Electric Loco Shed, Angul
Electric Loco Shed, Angul is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for electric locomotives of the Indian Railways, located at Angul of the East Coast Railway zone in Odisha, India. It is one of the two electric locomotive sheds of the East Coast Railway, the others being at Vishakhapatnam (VKSP). As of 1 November 2020, there are 216 locomotives in the shed. History After Eastern Railway set a deadline to eliminate all steam locomotive operations by 1990, a push was given towards establishing electric locomotion as the primary motive power, and the Steam locomotive sheds were decommissioned. Indian Locomotive Class WAG-7
The Indian locomotive class WAG-7 is a class of 25 kV AC electric locomotives that was developed in 1990 by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works for Indian Railways. The model name stands for broad gauge (W), alternating current (A), goods traffic (G) engine, 7th generation (7). They entered service in 1992. A total of 1970 WAG-7 were built at CLW and BHEL between 1990 and 2015, which made them the most numerous class of mainline electric locomotive till its successor the WAG-9.
