Peter Grice
Peter John Grice (born 1969) is an Australian Anglican bishop and former lawyer who has served as the 13th Bishop of Rockhampton since 27 February 2021. He previously served as Dean of Geraldton in the Diocese of North West Australia between 2015 and 2020. Early life, education and parish ministry Grice was born in 1969 in Newcastle, but grew up in Wollongong where he completed high school. He trained as a lawyer at the University of New South Wales, graduating with degrees in Commerce (Marketing) and Law in 1993. He then worked for a number of years in government and private practice as a commercial litigator. From 1999 to 2001, Grice studied theology at Sydney Missionary and Bible College, and an interest in rural ministry led him to become a candidate for ministry in the Anglican Diocese of Armidale. James Housden
James Alan George Housden (16 September 1904 – 22 April 1994) was the fifth Anglican Bishop of Rockhampton in Queensland, Australia, serving from 1947 to 1958. In 1958 he then became the Bishop of Newcastle in New South Wales until 1972. Housden was born in Birmingham and educated at Essendon High School and the University of Queensland before being ordained in 1929. His first position was as a curate at St Paul's Ipswich, Queensland after which he was chaplain of the Mitchell River Mission. He then became rector of Darwin, Northern Territory then vicar of Coolangatta. From 1940 to 1946 he was the Rural Dean of Warwick and finally (before his ordination to the episcopate) vicar of Christ Church, South Yarra. The Anglican Diocese of Tasmania includes the entire Tasmanian archipelago and is an extraprovincial diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia. An assistant bishop in the Anglican Communion is a bishop appointed to assist a diocesan bishop. Church of England In the established Church of England, assistant bishops are usually retired (diocesan or suffragan) bishops – in which case they are ''honorary assistant bishop''s. Historically, non-retired bishops have been appointed to be assistant bishops – however, unlike a diocesan or suffragan they do not hold a see: they are not the "Bishop of Somewhere". George Hearn (bishop)
George Arthur Hearn (born 17 November 1935) was the ninth Anglican Bishop of Rockhampton from 1981 until 1996. Hearn was educated at Northcote High School and ordained in 1964. His first post was as a curate at Traralgon after which he was vicar of Omeo. He held further incumbencies at Wonthaggi and Kyabram before administrative posts within the Diocese of Melbourne. He was consecrated a bishop on 30 April 1981, to serve as Bishop of Rockhampton. He resigned his See effective 18 March 1996. John Grindrod (bishop)
Sir John Basil Rowland Grindrod KBE (14 December 1919 – 4 January 2009) was an English-born Australian Anglican bishop. He was the Primate of Australia from 1982 to 1989. Grindrod was born in Aughton, Lancashire, England. He was educated at Repton School; Queen's College, Oxford (MA Oxon); and Lincoln Theological College. He was ordained a deacon in 1949 and a priest in 1952. He served as a curate at St Michael's Hulme, Manchester and then in Bundaberg, Queensland. He held incumbencies at All Souls' Ancoats, Manchester; and, moving to Australia, in Emerald, Queensland and North Rockhampton, Queensland while Archdeacon of Rockhampton.; and Christ Church, South Yarra. Donald Shearman
Donald Norman Shearman (6 February 1926–2019) was an Australian Anglican bishop who served as Bishop of Rockhampton from 1963 to 1971 and Bishop of Grafton from 1973 to 1985. In 2004, a church tribunal found Shearman guilty of misconduct for sexually abusing a schoolgirl while serving as a boarding master at an Anglican hostel in Forbes, New South Wales, in the 1950s. On 25 August 2004, Shearman became the first member of the clergy in the Anglican Church of Australia to be removed from holy orders as a result of that finding. Shearman was educated at Orange High School. After World War II service with the Royal Australian Air Force he studied for the priesthood at St John's Theological College, Morpeth. Ordained in 1950, his first post was a curacy at Dubbo. Later he was warden of St John's Hostel, Forbes, then rector of Coonabarabran.
