Andrew Jackson Kirk (March 19, 1866 – May 25, 1933) was an American lawyer and politician who served part of one term as a U.S. Representative from Kentucky in 1926 and 1927. Early life and career Born near Warfield, Kentucky, Kirk attended the common schools. He graduated from the law department of Valparaiso University (Indiana) in 1890. He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Inez, Kentucky. He served as county attorney of Martin County 1894-1898, and as commonwealth attorney for the twenty-fourth judicial district of Kentucky 1898-1904. He was circuit judge of the same district 1904-1916. He resumed the practice of law in Jenkins, Letcher County, and in Paintsville, Kentucky, in 1918. Andrew Dewey Kirk (May 28, 1898 – December 11, 1992) was an American jazz saxophonist and tubist who led the Twelve Clouds of Joy, a band popular during the swing era. He was born in Newport, Kentucky, United States. Kirk grew up in Denver, Colorado, where he was tutored by Wilberforce Whiteman, Paul Whiteman's father. Kirk started his musical career playing with George Morrison's band, but then went on to join Terrence Holder's Dark Clouds of Joy. In 1929, he was elected leader after Holder departed. Renaming the band Clouds of Joy, Kirk also relocated the band from Dallas, Texas, to Kansas City, Missouri. Although named the Clouds of Joy, the band has also been known as the Twelve Clouds of Joy due to the number of musicians in the band. They set up in the Pla-Mor Ballroom on the junction of 32nd and Main in Kansas City and made their first recording for Brunswick Records that same year. Andrew Robert Kirk (born 29 May 1979) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer and the current manager of Brechin City, in the Highland League. Kirk played for Glentoran, Heart of Midlothian, Boston United, Northampton Town, Yeovil Town, Dunfermline Athletic and Alloa Athletic. He was also capped by Northern Ireland. Andy Kirk (born October 3, 1977) is a retired American soccer goalkeeper who spent three seasons in Major League Soccer. He was also a member of the United States U-17 men's national soccer team at the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship and the United States U-20 men's national soccer team at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship. Youth Kirk graduated from Marquette University High School where he was a Gatorade High School Soccer Player of the Year. He then attended the University of Maryland, College Park where he spent two seasons with the men's soccer team. In January 1998, he announced his intention to leave the team in order to pursue a professional career. Professional He signed with MLS Project 40.
