Andrews, Jaques & Rantoul was an American architectural firm founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1883 and composed of architects Robert Day Andrews, Herbert Jaques and Augustus Neal Rantoul. The firm, with its successors, was in business continuously from 1883 to 1970, for a total of eighty-seven years of architectural practice. History The firm was established in July 1883 as Andrews & Jaques by Robert Day Andrews (1857–1928) and Herbert Jaques (1857–1916). Both architects had graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1877 and spent several years in the office and studio of Henry Hobson Richardson. In 1887 they were joined by Angustus N. Rantoul (1865–1934). When Rantoul joined the partnership in 1889, the firm became Andrews, Jaques & Rantoul. The partnership structure was unchanged until Jaques retired in 1909, with his share of the firm taken over by I. Howland Jones (1868–1959). Downtown Crossing is a shopping district within downtown Boston, Massachusetts, located east of Boston Common, west of the Financial District, south of Government Center, and north of Chinatown and the old Combat Zone. It features large department stores as well as restaurants, souvenir sellers, general retail establishments, and street vendors. The Downtown Crossing MBTA station lies in the center of the district. The Hartford Club is a private club at 46 Prospect Street in Hartford, Connecticut, founded in 1873. History The Hartford Club began as a union of local men's clubs amalgamated due to financial woes. Worcester County Courthouse
Worcester County Courthouse is a historic Greek Revival and Classical Revival building at 2 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts in the Lincoln Square district and within the historic Institutional District. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021. History The oldest portion of the current building was constructed in 1845 by Ammi B. Young on a parcel of land which had been the site of a courthouse since the 1730s. Stephen C. The Boston Building, built in 1890, is a historic building in Denver, Colorado. It was designed by the firm Andrews, Jaques & Rantoulthe same architects who designed the nearby Equitable Buildingand was dubbed the first "strictly modern office building" in Denver at time of its construction. Standing 9 stories tall (35 meters high), the building is located at 828 17th Street in Denver's historic district, on the corner of E. 17th St. and Champa. In 1978 the Boston Building received National Historic Landmark status under the Historic Resources of Downtown Denver Multiple Property Submission (Building Number: 5DV.108). Equitable Building (Denver)
The Equitable Building is a historic commercial office building located in Denver, Colorado. Description and history Standing at a height of 125 feet with 9 stories, the steel-framed office tower became the tallest building in the city upon its completion in 1892, and retained that title until 1911, when it was surpassed by the Daniels & Fisher Tower. It is an excellent example of the Italian Renaissance Revival architecture of its day, with its numerous sets of arched windows and the ornately carved granite that define its appearance.
