Andrew Pringle, Lord Alemore
Andrew Pringle, Lord Alemoor (died 1776) was a Scottish judge and Senator of the College of Justice. Life He was the son of John Pringle of the Haining, who was a Senator of the College of Justice. Andrew Pringle passed the Scottish bar as an advocate in 1740 and became Sheriff of Wigtown in 1750. He then served as Sheriff of Selkirk from 1751 until becoming Solicitor General for Scotland from 1755 until 1759, when he was appointed a Lord of Session with the judicial title Lord Alemoor. He had an unrivalled reputation as a lawyer and pleader. His position as a Senator of the College of Justice was afterwards filled by David Ross, Lord Ankerville. Prior to 1757 he lived at Niddry's Wynd off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. !n 1757 he commissioned John Adam to build him small but imposing villa on high ground northeast of Edinburgh close to Restalrig which he named Hawkhill House. Andrew Pringle (British Army Officer)
Major General Andrew Robert Douglas Pringle, (born 1946) is a retired British Army officer who served as president of KBR's International Government and Defence business. Military career Pringle attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned on 16 December 1966, as a second lieutenant in the Royal Green Jackets. He was promoted to lieutenant in July 1968, captain in December 1972, and major in February 1979. He undertook numerous tours in Northern Ireland, for which he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire. Promoted to lieutenant colonel in June 1983, he was given command of his Regiment and promoted to full colonel in June 1988. Pringle was advanced to Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1991. Promoted to brigadier in July 1992, he was then given command of the 20th Armoured Brigade in 1994. Andrew Pringle (born ) is a retired bond trader and political activist linked with the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario and the Conservative Party of Canada. He was first appointed a member of the Toronto Police Services Board in 2011, was elected vice-chair of the board in January 2015, and, since the July 31, 2015 retirement of Alok Mukherjee, held the office of chair of the TPSB, until his retirement on September 30, 2019. Andrew Seth, FBA, DCL (1856, Edinburgh – 1931, The Haining, Selkirkshire), who changed his name to Andrew Seth Pringle-Pattison in 1898 to fulfill the terms of a bequest, was a Scottish philosopher. His brother was James Seth, also a philosopher. Early life and education Their father, Smith Kinmont Seth, was the son of a farmer from Fife and a bank clerk in the head office of the Commercial Bank of Scotland. Their mother, Margaret, was the daughter of Andrew Little a farmer from Berwickshire. An elder brother died in infancy. Seth was educated at High School and the University of Edinburgh. In 1878 he was awarded a Hibbert Travelling Fellowship. He spent two years abroad, chiefly at German universities. On his return in 1880 he was appointed assistant to Professor Campbell Fraser, Professor of Logic and Metaphysics at Edinburgh. He became Balfour Lecturer in Philosophy in 1883.
