Andrew Lamb (bishop)
Andrew Lamb (1565? – 1634), was Bishop of Brechin and Bishop of Galloway. Life He was probably son or relative of Andrew Lamb of Leith, a lay member of the General Assembly of 1560. The latter purchased the late Mary of Guise's Leith "palace" (around 1562) and so Andrew was probably born and raised there. He became minister of Burntisland, Fife, in 1593, was translated to Arbroath in 1596, and home to South Leith Parish Church in July 1600. The same year he was appointed one of the members of the standing commission of the church, and in 1601 was made a royal chaplain, and in that capacity accompanied the Earl of Mar when he went as ambassador to the English court. He received a pension from the abbey of Arbroath for "service done to the king, and for his earnest care in discharging his ministerial functions, and in the common affairs of the kirk tending to the establishment of discipline", and in 1607 was made titular bishop of Brechin. Andrew Lamb is an author, engineer, and advocate for the local production of relief items used in humanitarian aid. Lamb was the founder of Engineers without Borders UK where he worked as the CEO. He was a technical editor for the inaugural UNESCO engineering report, as well as two book chapters. Education Lamb studied at the University of Cambridge and is a Shuttleworth Foundation fellow. Career Lamb launched and ran Engineers without Borders UK as the CEO. He worked RedR-UK for three years before becoming a trustee in 2011. Lamb is a director of ''Appropedia Foundation'' and was a trustee for the Centre for Global Equality. Andrew Lamb (born August 26, 1958, Clinton, North Carolina) is a jazz saxophonist and flautist. Lamb was raised in Chicago and South Jamaica, Queens. Having studied with AACM charter member Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre, Lamb came into New York City's avant-garde community during the 1970s, becoming an active presence in the Bedford-Stuyvesant arts world and winning a Brooklyn Arts Council grant. In 1994, he led a session for Delmark, composing all the pieces on ''Portrait in the Mist'', which featured vibraphonist Warren Smith, bassist Wilber Morris, and drummer Andrei Strobert. Lamb has since recorded duets with Warren Smith (''Duet'', WISland, 1999, and ''Dance of the Prophet''), made a trio recording with Eugene Cooper and Andrei Strobert (Kiki Records), and in 2003 released ''Pilgrimage'' on CIMP with Tom Abbs and Andrei Strobert, as well as a later release with his group The Moving Form, ''Year of the Endless Moment'' (Engine Studios).
