Andreas Neocleous Evripidi (; 3 July 1939 – 1 October 2021) was a Greek-Cypriot lawyer and politician who served as member of the House of Representatives of Cyprus. Early life Andreas Neocleous Evripidi was born on 3 July 1939 in Episkopi, Paphos. He earned a law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Athens in 1964. Career Neocleous began practicing law in 1965, specialising in international investment and international corporate tax law. He was the founder and managing partner of Andreas Neocleous & Co LLC, which became the largest law firm in Cyprus. He participated in EOKA's fight for the liberation of Cyprus from British rule, during which time he was arrested by British troops and imprisoned from 1956 to 1959. From 1970 to 1976, he served as a Member of Parliament for the Eniaion, United Party. House Of Representatives Of Cyprus
The House of Representatives ( ; ) is the national unicameral legislature of the Cyprus, Republic of Cyprus. Members and three observers representing Armenians in Cyprus, Armenian, Catholic Church in Cyprus, Latin, and Maronite Cypriots are elected by proportional representation every five years. 30% of seats are allocated to Turkish Cypriots, but these have been vacant since 1964. The House of Representatives of Cyprus is the only legislature in the European Union within a fully presidential system. Elections A general election must be held on the second Sunday of the month immediately preceding the month in which the term of office of the outgoing House expires. The outgoing House continues in office until the newly elected House assumes office, but during this time the outgoing House does not have the power to make any laws or to take any decision on any matter, except in urgent and exceptional unforeseen circumstances.
