Andorra In The Eurovision Song Contest 2007
Andorra participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Salvem el món" written and performed by young Andorran punk-rock band Anonymous, consisting of band members: Guillem Gallego, Niki Francesca and Alejandro Martínez. The band was internally selected by Andorran broadcaster Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA) in a process called ''Projecte Eurovisió'' for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The internal selection ended with a total of 82 songs having been submitted to RTVA. These entries were whittled down by the broadcaster to determine the fourth Andorran representatives. Anonymous were announced as the Andorran representatives on 15 January 2007, while the song was presented in a special gala show on 1 March 2007. As Andorra failed to qualify for the 2006 final, the country was forced to compete in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 10 May 2007. Anonymous was a band from Andorra that in 2007 represented the country with the song " Salvem el món" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 after being chosen by the internal national selection. The song, however, failed to make it through past the semi-final stage. The top ten acts are moved up to the finals, and Andorra came in 12th. The band was formed in 2004 and has had some success in Andorra and northern Spain (mainly Catalonia). Marian Van De Wal
Marian van de Wal (born 21 January 1970, Vianen) is a Dutch-Andorran singer and businesswoman who was the representative of Andorra at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Originally from the Netherlands, Van de Wal runs a small hotel in the Andorran town of L'Aldosa. She entered Eurocasting 2005, and was one of three finalists selected to go to the country's national final. On 18 December 2004, in Andorra La Vella, she won the right to sing for Andorra over Mar Capdevila and Ishtar Ruiz. Then, on 22 January 2005, in Sant Julia de Loria, Van de Wal sang three possible songs to represent Andorra, and one of those songs was to be selected by a mix of SMS vote and a local professional jury.
