Anderson Valley Unified School District, a public school district based in Boonville, Mendocino County, California, provides compulsory public primary and secondary education in the entirety of the nearly 20 mile long Anderson Valley, from the Mendocino County line north of Cloverdale to White Gulch, six miles north of Navarro. The district has 2,863 residents and averages a total enrollment of over 400 students. The district operates five schools, all of which are located (along with the district office) in Boonville. Boonville, California
Boonville (formerly The Corners and Kendall's City) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mendocino County, California, United States. It is located southwest of Ukiah, at an elevation of 381 feet (116 m). The population was 1,018 at the 2020 census. History Boonville was founded by John Bregartes in 1862. It was originally called "The Corners". Bregartes built a hotel there, and in 1864 Alonzo Kendall built another. The town became known as "Kendall's City". W.W. Boone bought a store in town and gave the place its current name. The first post office opened in 1875, having been transferred from Anderson. Geography Boonville is in southern Mendocino County, in the Anderson Valley, north of San Francisco. Anderson Valley
Anderson Valley is a sparsely populated region in western Mendocino County in Northern California. Located approximately north of San Francisco, the name "Anderson Valley" applies broadly to several rural, unincorporated communities in or near the alluvial terraces along Anderson Creek and other tributaries to the Navarro River. It is named after William Anderson, an early European settler to the area. California State Route 128
State Route 128 (SR 128) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California, connecting the Mendocino coast to the Sacramento Valley, through the state's Wine Country. It runs from State Route 1 near Albion to Interstate 505 in Winters. Route description Route 128 begins at Route 1 near the mouth of the Navarro River at the Pacific Ocean. California Postmile
California uses a postmile highway location marker system on all of its state highways, including U.S. Routes and Interstate Highways. The postmile markers indicate the distance a route travels through individual counties, as opposed to milestones that indicate the distance traveled through a state. The postmile system is the only route reference system used by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
