Ancylis Geminana
''Ancylis geminana'', the festooned roller, is a moth of the family Tortricidae. It was described by Edward Donovan in 1806. It is found in most of Europe and has also been recorded from North America. The habitat consists of fens, marshes and damp heathland. The wingspan is 14–20 mm. The head is pale pinkish ochreous or white. The forewings are red-brownish r ochreous or grey more or less streaked with blackish in disc posteriorly . The costa is strigulated and anteriorly broadly suffused with whitish. There two or three elongate black subcostal dots towards base. The dorsal area is suffused with whitish, limited by a whitish line forming a subtriangular projection in the middle and a flat arch posteriorly, ending on the termen above middle. Edward Donovan
Edward Donovan (1768 – 1 February 1837) was an Anglo-Irish writer, natural history illustrator, and amateur zoologist. He did not travel, but collected, described and illustrated many species based on the collections of other naturalists. His many books were successful in his time. He died penniless in 1837 leaving a large family destitute. Personal life Almost nothing is known about Donovan's family background, education or early life, although he is known to have been born in Cork, Ireland, and was originally surnamed O'Donovan. He is presumed to have had some independent wealth. His health declined in later years and he died penniless at his home in John Street in 1837 leaving a large family destitute. Tortricidae
The Tortricidae are a family of moths, commonly known as tortrix moths or leafroller moths, in the order Lepidoptera. This large family has over 11,000 species described, and is the sole member of the superfamily Tortricoidea, although the genus ''Heliocosma'' is sometimes placed within this superfamily. Many of these are economically important pests. Olethreutidae is a junior synonym. The typical resting posture is with the wings folded back, producing a rather rounded profile. Julius Von Kennel
Julius von Kennel (10 June 1854 – 24 January 1939) was a German zoologist and entomologist born in Schwegenheim. He studied at the University of Würzburg, where he came under the influence of zoologist Karl Semper (1832-1893). Later, he worked as an assistant to Karl August Möbius (1825-1908) at the University of Kiel, and following his habilitation, he returned to the University of Würzburg. In 1882-83 he participated on a research expedition to Trinidad and Venezuela (including the Orinoco River region). Later, he served as a lecturer at the ''Forstakademie'' in Aschaffenburg, and from 1887 to 1915, was a full professor of zoology at the University of Dorpat. Salix Repens
''Salix repens'', the creeping willow, is a small, shrubby species of willow in the family Salicaceae, growing up to 1.5metres in height. Found amongst sand dunes and heathlands, it is a polymorphic species, with a wide range of variants.
