Anatole De Montaiglon
Anatole de Courde de Montaiglon (28 November 1824 – 1 September 1895) was a 19th-century French librarian and art historian. Biography In 1850, De Montaignon graduated as an archivist and palaeographer from the École des chartes, with a thesis entitled ''Essai de dictionnaire des anciens peintres français pendant le Moyen Âge et la Renaissance''. He began his career as attached to the Louvre and the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal and in 1864 became secretary of the École des Chartes, with a position of substitute teacher. François-Léon Sicard
François-Léon Sicard (April 21, 1862 – July 8, 1934) was a French sculptor in the late 19th and early 20th century. His credits include work on the adornments of the Louvre, and numerous sculptures around the world. Sicard was born in Tours, studied with Louis-Ernest Barrias, and is known for his lithography and his fiercely patriotic original works of art. Despite the prolific populace of noted works throughout Europe, surprisingly little is known about Sicard himself. His work is very similar to that of Gustave Crauk (1827–1920) and Antoine-Augustin Préault (1809–1879), and he may have worked in collaboration with Crauk on some of his sculptures during the early 20th century. Geoffrey IV de la Tour Landry (before 1330-between 1402 and 1406)Anne Marie De Gendt, ''L'art d'éduquer les nobles damoiselles : le Livre du Chevalier de la Tour Landry'', Paris : Honoré Champion, 2003. was a nobleman of Anjou who fought in the Hundred Years War. In 1371–1372 Geoffrey compiled the '' Livre pour l'enseignement de ses filles'' ("The Book of the Knight in the Tower") for the instruction of his daughters—La Tour Landry stands (a ruin today) between Cholet and Vezins. Biography Geoffroy fought in the Hundred Years War; he was at the siege of Aguillon in 1346 and was in the war as late as 1383. His name again appears in a military muster in 1363. He married Jeanne de Rougé, younger daughter of Bonabes de Rougé, sieur of Derval, vicomte de La Guerche, and chamberlain to the king. Jules-Joseph Guiffrey (29 November 1840 – 26 November 1918) was a 19th-century French art historian, a member of the Académie des beaux-arts. The Société des Antiquaires de France (Society of Antiquaries of France) is a Parisian historical and archaeological society, founded in 1804 under the name of the Académie celtique (Celtic Academy). It is now based at the Louvre, in the pavillon Mollien.
