Amy's Law is a Georgia state law passed in response to outrage generated when a twelve-year-old boy convicted of murdering Amy Yates was sentenced to two years in juvenile prison, the maximum penalty allowed for minors in Georgia at the time. Unanimously passed by the Georgia Senate in 2006, Amy's Law permits sentencing juveniles to incarceration until age 21 if convicted of murder. Amy's Law (House Bill 29) is an Ohio law that toughened requirements for granting bail or bond to persons accused of domestic assault in Ohio. The bill was sponsored by State Representative James Raussen (OH-28), It was signed into law by Governor Bob Taft on May 25, 2005, after domestic violence survivor Amy Rezos pushed for stronger penalties for domestic abusers in the state. Under Amy's Law, each case involving an arrest or an investigation into a domestic violence incident requires police officers to complete a 20-question hazard assessment form. Brent Anderson (born in Pascagoula, Mississippi) is an American country music singer. He has charted on Hot Country Songs with the single "Amy's Song". Anderson learned to play bass guitar at age 7, and later began playing acoustic guitar in a trio that included his father and father's cousin. By 17, Anderson had signed his first songwriting deal. He then signed with Sea Gayle, a division of Arista Nashville owned by Brad Paisley. In late 2011, he released his debut single "Amy's Song". The song samples Pure Prairie League's 1973 hit "Amie" and includes backing vocals from Vince Gill and Pure Prairie League founder Craig Fuller.
