Amritpal Singh Sandhu (born 17 January 1993) is a radical Indian Khalistan separatist, a self-styled Sikh preacher and leader of the organisation Waris Punjab De ("Heirs of Punjab") from Punjab, India. After living in Dubai for a decade, he returned to Punjab in September 2022 to take charge of the organisation following the death of its previous leader Deep Sidhu. He campaigned for six months, encouraging youth to stay off drugs, asking them to take up a pure form of Sikhism, and advocating the need for Khalistan. Following a crackdown by the police in March 2023, he is currently a wanted fugitive in India. He is accused of maintaining close contacts with the Inter-Services Intelligence and attempting to raise a militia including suicide bombers per intelligence reports. Amritpal Singh (born January 5, 1991) is an Indian professional basketball player who represents Punjab at the National Basketball Championship. In the past, he played for the Sydney Kings of the Australian National Basketball League. Early life Amritpal Singh comes from a family of farmers. He began playing basketball in 2009, after playing kabaddi as a youth. In March 2010, he joined the Ludhiana Basketball Academy. Professional career In August 2015, Amritpal Singh signed with Tokyo Excellence of Japan's National Basketball Development League (NBDL). After putting up impressive performances in the BJ Challenge Summer League from June to August playing for the Hyogo Impulse team, Singh secured a one-year contract with the Tokyo team. Amritpal Singh (born 9 January 2001) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a defender for I-League club Rajasthan United. Club career Amritpal began his football career with the FC Pune City Academy in 2016 before joining Hyderabad FC Reserves Hyderabad FC Reserves in 2019. After featuring for HFC B over two years in various competitions, he was promoted to the first team in 2021–22 season, and was part of the HFC side that won the Indian Super League title in 2022.
