It is a bubblegum pop song that was written by Elli Medeiros and Jacno and produced by the latter. It also reached the 1 slot on the Italian charts for two weeks. ''Lio'', also known as ''Premier Album'', is the debut album by Belgian pop singer Lio. It features the hit singles " Amoureux solitaires", "Amicalement votre" and her signature song "Le Banana Split". Singles Re-Issues The album was originally released by the record company Ariola (Benelux and Spain), and Arabella (France) in 1980. It was re-released by Warner Music Group in 1996. Bubblegum (also called bubblegum pop) is pop music in a catchy and upbeat style that is considered disposable, contrived, or marketed for children and adolescents. Ariola (also known as Ariola Records, Ariola-Eurodisc and BMG Ariola) is a German record label. In the late 1980s, it was a subsidiary label of the Bertelsmann Music Group, which in turn has become a part of the international media conglomerate Sony Music Entertainment. Jacno
Jacno (3 July 1957 in Paris – 6 November 2009) was a French musician. Born as Denis Quilliard, he was a founding member of the first French punk band The Stinky Toys. In the early 1980s, after the group disbanded, he teamed up with former Stinky Toys singer Elli Medeiros to form the pop duo Elli et Jacno. Jacno had also released a number of solo albums since 1979. He took his professional name from the name of the graphic artist who drew the Gallic helmet logo of French Gauloises cigarettes brand. In 1999, the Italian DJ Gigi D'Agostino used the track Rectangle for his song La Passion. The song was a hit in Austria and Belgium where it became a number-one single, and was very popular in other European countries. Elli Medeiros
Elli Medeiros (born 18 January 1956) is a Uruguayan-French singer and actress. Career Stinky Toys Originally from Uruguay, Medeiros moved to Paris, France, at the age of 14, dropped out of high school a couple of years later and joined the punk band Stinky Toys. Elli et Jacno After the group disbanded, Medeiros joined another Stinky Toy member Jacno to form the electropop duo Elli et Jacno. Together they released several albums, one of them the soundtrack to an Éric Rohmer film ''Les nuits de la pleine lune''. Solo The singer went solo in 1986. The songs, "Toi mon toit" (1986) and "A bailar calypso" (1987), were big hits in France and had a more Latin sound than her previous records. "Le Banana Split" is the debut single by Belgian pop singer Lio. It was a very big hit when it was first released in 1979, selling 700,000 copies. It is considered today Lio's signature song. Background "Le Banana Split" was remixed in 1995 and re-released to promote Lio's greatest hits album ''Peste Of!''. Live performances In 1996, Lio performed a punk version of "Le Banana Split" on the French TV show " Taratata". Kim Van Hee (born 22 February 1978), better known by her stage name Kim Kay or Daphne is a Belgian pop/rock singer. She is Flemish, though she is known for delivering vocals in French. Kay took part in the Belgian preselection of the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest with a song called The Sun Shines. Kim Kay's arguably most famous work is her dance single "Lilali", which was a hit in Europe, beyond Belgium and France, where she booked her overall greatest successes throughout her career.
