Amos Thomas
Amos Thomas (March 30, 1826 – ?) was an American farmer and politician. Born in Daviess County, Indiana, Thomas moved to (polecat hollow)in 1839 and settled in the town of Granville in the community of Good Hope. He was a farmer. Thomas served on the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin Board of Supervisors and was the chairman. Daviess County is a County (United States), county in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 31,648. The county seat is Washington, Indiana, Washington. About 15% of the county's population is Amish of Swiss Americans, Swiss origin, as of 2017. History After the American Revolutionary War was settled, the fledgling nation created the Northwest Territory, tentatively divided into two counties. The area that would become the state of Indiana in 1816 was included in the original Knox County, Indiana, Knox County. As the area became more settled, Knox was partitioned into smaller counties, the last of which was the present-day Daviess, authorized on 2 February 1818. Granville, Wisconsin
Granville was a town located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. One portion was incorporated as the village of Brown Deer in 1955; the remainder consolidated with the City of Milwaukee in 1956, and became a neighborhood of Milwaukee. History The first settlers came to the area in 1835, including some from Granville, New York, who gave the area its name. On January 13, 1840, the Town of Granville was created by the territorial legislature, encompassing a western portion of the Town of Milwaukee. As of the 1840 census, the population of the Town of Granville was 225. Granville was settled in the late 1830s and 1840s by a group of Pennsylvania Dutch (German) immigrants who had formerly lived in Telford, Pennsylvania, led by Samuel Wambold. Good Hope, Wisconsin
Good Hope was an inhabited place in the Town of Milwaukee in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. History The original center was at Charles Krocker's "Good Hope Inn", a tavern and stagecoach stop, and the post office there, which opened in mid-1849, at what is now the intersection of Green Bay Avenue and Green Tree Road in Glendale. In later years, the post office itself was moved further north, to Green Bay Road's intersection with what would become known as Good Hope Road. The original structure was not demolished until 1931. As of 1887, the Wisconsin Central Railway had a railroad station there, 12 miles out from Milwaukee on the way to Brown Deer and eventually to Ashland. There was still a post office there as late as 1893, but it was shuttered sometime after May 12, 1894. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.
