Amorebieta Station
Amorebieta is a railway station in Amorebieta-Etxano, Basque Country, Spain. It is owned by Euskal Trenbide Sarea and operated by Euskotren. It lies on the Bilbao-San Sebastián line. History The station opened as part of the Bilbao-Durango line in 1882. In 1888 the Amorebieta-Guernica railway opened. The terminus of the new line had three tracks converging at a turntable as well as a track connecting it to the Bilbao-Durango line. The new terminus didn't have a dedicated passenger building, and travellers used the existing building built for the Bilbao-Durango line. In 1973 a chord was built allowing trains from Bermeo to run directly to Bilbao without having to reverse at Amorebieta, some trains from the Urdaibai line served Amorebieta until 1989. The whole station was rebuilt in 1995, together with the double-tracking of the Bilbao-San Sebastián line from Lemoa. Amorebieta-Etxano, also known as Zornotza (Spanish, ''Amorebieta-Echano''), is a town and municipality located in Biscay in the Basque Country, an Autonomous Community in northern Spain. At the time of the 2019 census, the population of the municipality was 19,339, with 16,907 inhabitants living in Amorebieta. The mayor is Andoni Agirrebeitia. Geography Amorebieta-Etxano is an inland town in the comarca of Duranguesado in the province of Biscay in northern Spain. Bermeo Station
Bermeo is a railway station in Bermeo, Basque Country, Spain. It is owned by Euskal Trenbide Sarea and operated by Euskotren. It lies on the Urdaibai line. History The station opened as the northern terminus of the Pedernales-Bermeo extension of the Amorebieta-Pedernales line on 16 August 1955. A spur track was added in 1960 to serve freight traffic from the harbor. It was removed later that decade due to lack of use. A new access to the harbor was built in 1996.
