Amjad Khan (12 November 1940 — 27 July 1992) was an Indian actor and film director. He worked in over 132 films in a career spanning nearly twenty years. He was the son of the actor Jayant. He gained popularity for villainous roles in mostly Hindi films, the most famous being Gabbar Singh in the 1975 classic ''Sholay'' and of Dilawar in ''Muqaddar Ka Sikandar'' (1978). Early life Amjad Khan was born in Bombay City, Bombay Presidency, British India on 12 November 1940 into a Muslim family of Pashtun descent to actor Jayant; who was originally from Peshawar, North-West Frontier Province. Amjad Khan (born 21 August 1966) is a former Indian-born American cricketer. Khan played as a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium-fast and who could occasionally field as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India and made his first-class debut for Jammu and Kashmir in the 1988/89 Ranji Trophy against Delhi. He made one further first-class appearance for the state that season, which came against Haryana. In his two matches for the state, he scored 42 runs at a batting average of 10.50, with a high score of 22. Aafia Siddiqui ( ur, ; born 2 March 1972) is a Pakistani national who is serving an 86-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, United States for attempted murder and other felonies. Siddiqui was born in Pakistan to a Sunni Muslim family. For a period from 1990, she studied in the United States and obtained a PhD in neuroscience from Brandeis University in 2001. She returned to Pakistan for a time following the 9/11 attacks and again in 2003 during the war in Afghanistan. Syed Amjad Ali ( ur, سید امجد علی; 5 July 1907 – 5 March 1997) was a Pakistani politician and a civil servant during the British Raj era, who served as the 3rd Minister of Finance (Pakistan) from 1956 to 1958 and as Pakistan Ambassador to the United States from 1953 to 1955. Ali was born in Lahore, the eldest son of Sir Syed Maratib Ali, a prominent Muslim businessman in the Punjab. Syed Babar Ali and Syed Wajid Ali were his younger brothers.
