American Musical Theatre Live is a musical theatre organization based in Paris, France. Background American Musical Theatre Live (AMT Live) is a non-profit association based in Paris, France that promotes and performs contemporary musical theatre. Founded by Miranda Crispin and John Florencio, the organization features an international troupe of artists showcasing contemporary musical theatre productions and also offers professional musical theatre training programs. Miranda Crispin is an American musical theatre performer, director, and teacher based in Paris, France. Biography Crispin is the co-founder of and serves as the Artistic Director for the American Musical Theatre Live theatre company in Paris, France. John Florencio
John Florencio is a Filipino-American classical pianist. Early life and education Born in Manila, Florencio studied classical piano at the University of Santo Tomas during his high school years. He graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with a degree in piano performance. Career Florencio is the co-founder of the San Francisco Academy for the Performing Arts. Florencio lives in Paris, France, and was part of the founding faculty of American Musical Theatre Live. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, known together as Pasek and Paul, are an American songwriting duo and composing team for musical theater, films and television. Their works include ''A Christmas Story'', ''Dogfight'', '' Edges'', ''Dear Evan Hansen'', and ''James and the Giant Peach''. Their original songs have been featured on NBC's '' Smash'' and in the films ''La La Land'', for which they won both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song for the song "City of Stars", and ''The Greatest Showman''. It is a song cycle about coming of age, growth and self-discovery of people mostly in their 20s. Its most famous song, "Be My Friend", has come to be commonly known as the "Facebook song". Jason Robert Brown (born June 20, 1970) is an American musical theatre composer, lyricist, and playwright. Brown's music sensibility fuses pop-rock stylings with theatrical lyrics. The Last Five Years
''The Last Five Years'' is a musical written by Jason Robert Brown. It premiered at Chicago's Northlight Theatre in 2001 and was then produced Off-Broadway in March 2002. Since then it has had numerous productions both in the United States and internationally. The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie's story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met) and Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect. In 2023, the musical will premiere in its first ever production in Greece, at the alternative stage of the Greek National Opera House. Adam Kantor (born May 27, 1986) is an American actor and singer. He is best known for his roles on Broadway, most notably Mark Cohen in the closing cast of ''Rent'', which was captured in '' Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway'', Motel in the 2015 revival of ''Fiddler on the Roof'', and as an original cast member in ''The Band's Visit''. John Bucchino
John Bucchino (born 1952) is an American songwriter of both lyrics and music, an accompanist, a cabaret performer, and a teacher. He has been called "super-talented". Stephen Schwartz said his songs have "insightful lyrics and gorgeous melodies", "rich harmonic textures and subtle…inner voicings." His music has "beautiful intricacies." Career Bucchino was born in South Philadelphia, son of an accountant; his family moved to Palm Springs, California when he was 12. He started writing songs in high school. After college he moved to Los Angeles. He never had music lessons of any sort. He does not read music, and he taught himself to play the piano by ear.
