America's Got Talent Season 3
The third season of American talent show competition series ''America's Got Talent'' was broadcast on NBC from June 17 to October 1, 2008. After the conclusion of the second season, changes to the program included the creation of additional audition episodes in the broadcast schedule, the involvement of quarter-finals in the competition, and doubling the number of participants that advanced from the boot camp stage. Between August 7–26, the show had a planned break to avoid clashing with the network's live coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics. The third season was won by opera singer Neal E. Boyd, with singer and pianist Eli Mattson finishing in second place, and violinists Nuttin' But Stringz placing third. During its broadcast, the season averaged roughly over 10.75 million viewers. Nielsen Media Research (NMR) is an American firm that measures media audiences, including television, radio, theatre, films (via the AMC Theatres MAP program), and newspapers. ZOOperstars! is a traveling inflatable entertainment act, based in Louisville, Kentucky, who utilizes comedy, acrobatics, tricks and maneuvers accompanied by synchronized dancing to entertain. The name ZOOperstars! is derived from the "pun-based animal athlete monikers such as Shark McGwire, Ken Giraffey Jr. and Tim Tebull." Currently, the mascot dance troupe has over 40 different characters who sport similar pun-based names. The ZOOperstars! act is one of the busiest traveling entertainment acts in the business. Gary Hall, also known as Shequida Hall or mononymously as Shequida, is a Jamaican-American classically trained opera singer, songwriter, playwright, and drag artist. He attended Juilliard, where he studied with noted bass-baritone Simon Estes. As the female character Shequida, he has been the USA Network's spokesperson for Latin America. From 1997 to 1998 he played Wendi Mercury on the daytime television show ''One Life to Live''. He starred in Daron Hagen's ''Vera of Las Vegas'' for its world premier in 2003. Nuttin' But Stringz, also known as N.B.S., consisted of the duo Tourie and Damien Escobar who both play violin. The musicians from Jamaica, Queens played a blend of classical music, hip-hop, jazz, and R&B.
