''America's Funniest People'' is an American reality show on ABC that debuted on May 13, 1990 as a 30 minute television special ''America's Funniest... Part II'', aired after the popular ''America's Funniest Home Videos''. The green-lit series, then named ''America's Funniest People'' for the fall season, aired as a weekly half-hour prime time series from September 9, 1990, to August 28, 1994. It was hosted by Dave Coulier and Arleen Sorkin from 1990 to 1992. Tawny Kitaen replaced Sorkin in 1992. The announcer was Ernie Anderson. Dan Slider composed the theme song, which was performed by Peter Hix. Format The format was similar to ''America's Funniest Home Videos'', with the main difference that while ''America's Funniest Home Videos'' spent the majority of its time with accidental follies captured on tape, ''America's Funniest People'' focused on people intentionally trying to be funny, doing things such as telling jokes, doing impressions, singing, dancing, performing scripte ... Dunk Tank
A dunk tank, also known as a dunking booth or dunking machine, is a common feature at Canadian and American fairs, fundraisers, and celebrations. It consists of a huge water tank with a volunteer sitting on a collapsible bench above. When the ball hits the goal, the seat collapses and "dunks" the volunteer into the water. People often volunteer to be dunked while fully dressed for comedic effect. Origin African dodger, also known as Hit the Coon, was a popular American carnival game from the late 19th century up to the mid-1940s. It involved an African-American man sticking his head out through a hole in a curtain and trying to dodge balls thrown at him. Hits were rewarded with prizes. People were sometimes seriously injured or reportedly even killed after being struck. The Prospect Studios (also known as ABC Television Center [West]) is a lot containing several television studios located at 4151 Prospect Avenue in the Los Feliz, Los Angeles, Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, at the corner of Prospect and Talmadge Street (named in honor of silent screen star Norma Talmadge), just east of Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood. Furby is an American electronic robotic toy that was originally released in 1998 by Tiger Electronics. It resembles a hamster or owllike creature and went through a period of being a " must-have" toy following its holiday season launch, with continual sales until 2000. Over 40 million Furbies were sold during the three years of its original production, with 1.8 million sold in 1998, and 14 million in 1999. Its speaking capabilities were translated into 24 languages. Furbies were the first successful attempt to produce and sell a domestically aimed robot.
