Republic Of Estonia
A republic () is a "state in which power rests with the people or their representatives; specifically a state without a monarchy" and also a "government, or system of government, of such a state." Previously, especially in the 17th and 18th centuries, the term was used to imply a state with a democratic or representative constitution (constitutional republic), but more recently it has also been used of autocratic or dictatorial states not ruled by a monarch. Peeter Sauter
Peeter Sauter (born March 11, 1962, in Tallinn) is an Estonian author, translator and former actor. Literature In 1980, Sauter enrolled in the Tallinn State Conservatory (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre), studying acting under course instructor Mikk Mikiver, graduating in 1984. Among his graduating classmates were Rita Rätsepp, Margus Tabor, Kiiri Tamm, Gita Ränk, Toomas Urb, and Terje Pennie. He also studied drama at the Liverpool John Moores University in Liverpool, United Kingdom. From 1984 until 1985, he was a stage actor at the Ugala theatre in Viljandi. Sauter made his literary debut in 1988 in the Estonian magazine ''Vikerkaar'' (''Rainbow''). He sent in a brief prose piece for one-time publication. The editor of the magazine recalls it as "trash", but truly likeable. Sauter is famous for writing many brief stories seemingly without a beginning or an end. Jüri Järvet
Jüri Järvet (18 June 1919 – 5 July 1995) was an Estonian actor. His name sometimes appears as Yuri Yevgenyevich Yarvet, an incorrect back-transliteration from the Russian transliteration Юри Евгеньевич Ярвет. His birthname was Georgi Kuznetsov, and he took the Estonian form in 1938. Biography Järvet's mother was a Russian, while his father was believed to have been an ethnic German that immigrated from Lorraine. Järvet is best known in the West for the role of Dr. Snaut in Andrei Tarkovsky's '' Solaris'', but he played in numerous other films both in Russian and his native Estonian. He was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1975, and the USSR State Prize in 1981. Mati Klooren
Mati Klooren (31 July 1938 – 16 July 2000) was an Estonian actor and theatre director. Mati Klooren was born in Tallinn. His younger brother was actor Enn Klooren. In 1961, he graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory's Performing Arts Department. Since 1961, he was an actor at the Estonian Drama Theatre. From 1983 until 1989, he was the head of Estonian Drama Theatre. Besides theatre roles he played also in several films. Rudolf Allabert
Rudolf Allabert (3 September 1939 Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast – 10 March 2011 Tallinn) was an Estonian actor, director and theatrical pedagogue. Until 1961 he worked at Rakvere Theatre. In 1965 he graduated from Tallinn State Conservatory. Allabert was a founding member of the Estonian State Youth Theatre. In 2006 he was awarded with Order of the White Star, IV class. Following his death in 2011, he was interred at Tallinn's Forest Cemetery. Heino Mandri
Heino Mandri (11 September 1922 – 3 December 1990) was an Estonian film and stage actor, designated People's Artist of the Estonian SSR (1986). Biography Heino Mandri was born in the independent Republic of Estonia. He studied acting at Tallinn State Conservatory (now, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) and graduated in 1946, when post-war Estonia was part of the Soviet Union. At that time Heino Mandri was accused of anti-Soviet activities and sentenced to imprisonment and hard labor in Gulag. From 1948 to 1954 he served the sentence in the Viatlag prison camp, Lesnoy, Kirov Oblast in Northern Russia. In 1954, Heino Mandri returned from the Viatlag prison camp to Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic. Raivo Trass (12 March 1946 – 7 June 2022) was an Estonian actor, director and theatrical pedagogue. Career Trass graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory's Performing Arts Department in 1968. From 1968 until 1977, he was an actor at Estonian Drama Theatre. From 1977 until 1985, he was the chief stage manager of the Rakvere Theatre. From 1981 until 1985, he was the head of Rakvere Theatre. From 1985 until 1992, he was a director at Estonian Drama Theatre. From 1997 until 2004, he was the chief stage manager of Endla Theatre. Kärt Tomingas (born 5 April 1967) is an Estonian stage, television, voice and film actress, singer, lecturer and acting and theatre pedagogue. Tomingas' career began in the 1980s as a folk-pop, rock and jazz singer and soon after began a career as an actress. Since 2008, she has been an acting lecturer and has taught acting.
