"Always Beside You" is a song by Australian-New Zealand band Coterie sung in collaboration with New Zealand band Six60. It was released as a single in December 2022 on the same date as their debut album '' Coterie''. Background and composition Coterie first met New Zealand band Six60 in 2021, after Coterie performed a cover of a Six60 song on Instagram. After Six60 reached out to the band, Coterie flew from Perth to Auckland a few days later for the groups' first recording sessions together. The song was written by the bands during these first sessions. The lyrics were written to express camaraderie, brotherhood, and the connection and appreciation that the members of Coterie and Six60 feel for each other. Coterie is a four-member Australian-New Zealand band. Formed from four brothers who were born in New Zealand and grew up in Perth, Western Australia, the band received recognition for the 2021 single "Cool It Down", which was a hit in New Zealand. Biography The Fisher brothers' parents are musicians from New Zealand. While on tour, they decided to relocate the family from Papakura in Auckland to Perth, Western Australia. The family's roots are in Tauranga and Northland, and are of Te Aupōuri, Ngāpuhi and Ngāi Te Rangi descent. The brothers formed as a musical act in 2016, and prior to this had worked on a number of different music projects, including Tastemakers, an online series where the brothers collaborated with Western Australian artists. Six60 are a New Zealand pop rock band formed in Dunedin, Otago in 2008. The band consists of Matiu Walters (lead vocals, guitar), Ji Fraser (lead guitar), Chris Mac (bass guitar), Marlon Gerbes (synthesiser), Hoani Matenga (bass guitar) and Eli Paewai (drums). Their self-titled debut album was released on 10 October 2011 on their own label Massive Entertainment.
