Alured Arnold Callin
Alured Arnold Callin (25 August 1924 – 29 June 2015) was a Manx politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Council of the Isle of Man. He was born in August 1924 and educated at Peel Clothworkers' School. He served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and then became a businessman and auctioneer on the Isle of Man. Between 1956 and 1976 he served on Onchan Commissioners, twice being chairman. Alured Clarke
Sir Alured Clarke (24 November 1744 – 16 September 1832) was a British Army officer. He took charge of all British troops in Georgia in May 1780 and was then deployed to Philadelphia to supervise the evacuation of British prisoners of war at the closing stages of the American Revolutionary War. He went on to be Governor of Jamaica and then lieutenant-governor of Lower Canada in which role he had responsibility for implementing the Constitutional Act 1791. He was then sent to India where he became Commander-in-Chief of the Madras Army, then briefly Governor-General of India and finally Commander-in-Chief of India during the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. Alured Clarke (priest)
Alured Clarke (1696–1742) was Dean of Exeter between 1741 and 1742. Life He was the son of Alured Clarke, of Godmanchester in Huntingdonshire, who died on 28 October 1744, aged 86, by his second wife, Ann, fourth daughter of the Rev. Charles Trimnell, rector of Ripton-Abbotts, in the same county, who died on 26 May 1755, aged 88. Bishop Charles Trimnell was his uncle, and his only brother was Charles Clarke (died 1750), baron of the exchequer. Clarke's education began at St Paul's School, London and from 1712 to 1719 he held one of its exhibitions. On 1 April 1713 he was admitted a pensioner at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, taking the degrees of B.A. 1716, M.A. 1720, D.D. 1728, and being elected to a fellowship in 1718. Alured Dumbell
Sir Alured Dumbell MLC (12 January 1835 – 12 March 1900) was a senior judge who was Clerk of the Rolls of the Isle of Man. Dumbell was born in Douglas, the son of the well-known banker, lawyer and politician George Dumbell MHK and Mary Gibson, and was educated at a private school in Douglas. He then entered the firm of Harris and Adams as a law student. He was admitted to the bar in 1858 and soon acquired a large practice in the north of the island. He became High Bailiff of Ramsey in 1873 then Second Deemster in 1880, and finally Clerk of the Rolls in 1883. Alured Chaffee "Slim" Ransom (November 12, 1908-January 13, 1992) was an American athletics coach and sports educator who helped develop physical education programs in Afghanistan. In the United States he was a college football and basketball coach, coaching from 1941 until 1954. His career football coaching record was 30–41–2 with a winning percentage of .411. He also spent some time coaching and as an athletic director at the high school level. John Alured
John Alured (1607–1651) was an army officer who fought for the parliamentary cause in the English Civil War and was one of the regicides of King Charles I in 1649.Scott, ODNB He was born in Kingston upon Hull. He inherited the family estate in 1628 and married Mary Darley (second cousin) in 1631. Alured was the MP for Hedon in both the Short and Long Parliaments. He spent most of the First Civil War as a colonel in Lord Fairfax's northern parliamentarian army, and is known to have fought at Adwalton Moor in 1643 and possibly at Marston Moor in 1644. Thomas Alured (1583 – May 1638) was an English landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1628 to 1629. Alured was the son of John Aldred of Charterhouse, Hull. He was admitted as a scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, at Easter 1602. He was admitted at Gray's Inn on 7 May 1604. From about 1606 he was private secretary to Ralph Eure, 3rd Baron Eure, and was given a number of further posts.
