Alonzo Russell (American Football)
Alonzo Jermey Russell (born September 29, 1992) is an American football wide receiver for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at the University of Toledo and signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He has been a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL), and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). College career After redshirting the 2011 season, Russell's collegiate debut came against the Arizona Wildcats where he hauled in three receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown. In week 3, Russell caught six passes for a career high 152 yards and one touchdown in a 27-15 victory against the Bowling Green Falcons. 2011 Toledo Rockets Football Team
The 2011 Toledo Rockets football team represented the University of Toledo during the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Rockets were led by third-year head coach Tim Beckman during the regular season and new head coach Matt Campbell for their bowl game. They competed in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference and played their home games at the Glass Bowl. They finished the season 9–4, 7–1 in MAC play to be West Division co–champions with Northern Illinois. Due to their loss to Northern Illinois, they did not represent the division in the MAC Championship Game. They were invited to the Military Bowl where they defeated Air Force 42–41. At the end of the regular season, head coach Tim Beckman resigned to become the new head coach at Illinois. Offensive coordinator Matt Campbell was named as Beckman's replacement and coached the Rockets in the Military Bowl. Beckman finished at Toledo with a three-year record of 21–16. The XFL is a professional American football minor league consisting of eight teams located across the United States in mid-sized to major markets served by at least one other major professional sports team. Seasons run from February to April, with each team playing a ten-game regular season, and four progressing to the playoffs to crown a season champion. It is headquartered in Arlington, Texas. The league was founded by former WWE executive Vince McMahon in 2018, as a reboot and successor to the league of the same name he founded in 2001. 2020 XFL Season
The 2020 XFL season was the first season in the reboot of the XFL, and the second in the history of the XFL brand created and owned by professional wrestling magnate Vince McMahon, coming 19 years after the 2001 XFL season. The season began on February 8, 2020, with the DC Defenders hosting and defeating the Seattle Dragons. The league planned to have a ten-week regular season through April 12, with division championships April 18 and 19, with the XFL Championship scheduled for April 26 in Houston. 2020 XFL Draft
The 2020 XFL Draft was the inaugural player selection process to fill the rosters of the eight teams of the 2020 reboot of the XFL. The draft was held on October 15–16, 2019, via conference call, with results released through the XFL's social media channels. Structure The XFL player allocation process was held in multiple phases, separated by position groups. The league used a "snake" format in each phase, in which the draft order reversed with each round. The draft order was shuffled for each phase as predetermined through lotteries. The 2015 Toledo Rockets football team represented the University of Toledo in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by head coach Matt Campbell in his fourth year. They played their home games at the Glass Bowl and were members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 10–2, 6–2 in MAC play to finish in a four way tie for the West Division title. However, due to losses to Western Michigan and Northern Illinois, two other teams to finish 6–2 in the West Division, they did not represent the West Division in the MAC Championship Game.
