Alan Almand (born 19 March 1943), also known as Willy Almand, is a retired British rower. He competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Almand won the coxed fours with Christopher Pierce, Hugh Matheson, Dick Findlay and Patrick Sweeney, rowing for a Tideway Scullers and Leander Leander is one of the protagonists in the story of Hero and Leander in Greek mythology. Bond Almand (January 13, 1894 – May 13, 1985)Tom Bennett, "Former state Chief Justice Almand, 91", ''The Atlanta Constitution'' (May 15, 1985), p. 11-D. was a justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia from 1949 to 1969, and chief justice from 1969 to 1972. Born in Lithonia, Georgia, Almand received his undergraduate degree from Emory University, followed by an LL.B. and an M.A. from Columbia University in 1916. He served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps corps in Europe during World War I. In the 1920s, he served one term in the Georgia House of Representatives, and later assisted with the drafting of legislation to reorganize the Georgia state government. In 1942, Governor Eugene Talmadge named Almand to the Fulton County Superior Court, where Almand remained until the appointment expired in 1944. John Parks Almand
John Parks Almand (May 8, 1885 – March 24, 1969) was an American architect who practiced in Arkansas from 1912 to 1962. Among other works, he designed the Art Deco Hot Springs Medical Arts Building, which was the tallest building in Arkansas from 1930 to 1958. Several of his works, including the Medical Arts Building and Little Rock Central High School, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Biography He was born in Lithonia, Georgia. He received a bachelor of science degree from Emory College in 1907 and subsequently received a bachelor of architecture degree from Columbia University in 1911. He then worked as the head of the architecture department for a large engineering company in Cuba for one year. In 1912, he moved to Arkansas to work for the firm of Charles L. Thompson.
