Oberlin is a town in and the parish seat of Allen Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,770 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Johann Friedrich Oberlin. Oberlin was the home of Ernest S. Clements, a Democratic member of the Louisiana State Senate and, later, the Louisiana Public Service Commission. He ran unsuccessfully in 1944 for governor of Louisiana. Geography Oberlin is located at (30.619560, -92.764058). Kinder is a small town in Allen Parish, Louisiana, in the United States. The population was 2,477 at the 2010 census. The Lieutenant Douglas B. Fournet Memorial Park, an American Legion enterprise, was dedicated on June 11, 1988, in Kinder to remember those who died in military service to the nation. Kinder was the birthplace of the late Mayor J. Rayburn Bertrand of Lafayette, who served from 1960 to 1972 and presided over the near doubling of the municipal population. Kinder is home to Coushatta Casino Resort, the largest casino resort in Louisiana. The resort includes Koasati Pines, an 18-hole par 72 championship layout golf course. Reeves High School is a primary and secondary school in Reeves, Louisiana, United States. The school serves approximately 300 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. History Robert L. Frye, the Republican candidate for state education superintendent in 1972, began his educational career at Reeves High School in the late 1940s. Reeves High went 8 years with a block schedule which consisted of four-day weeks which ran from 7:45 to 3:30. After low test scores the Allen Parish school board voted against it, which was met by negative reactions by village inhabitants and students alike. The new schedule consists of five-day weeks which run from 7:40 to 3:05 with seniors only leaving until after they got all the credits that they need to have to graduate. Few decided to get off of LA core 4 and go to basic so those few seniors only go to school for about 3–4 hours. Most of the seniors get out of school after 5th hour.
