Allan Marshall (RAF Officer)
Air Vice-Marshal Allan Paul Marshall, is a senior Royal Air Force officer. Early life Marshall holds an engineering degree from Pembroke College, Cambridge. RAF career Marshall was commissioned into the Royal Air Force (RAF) in September 1991. He served as officer commanding No. 5 Squadron RAF, No. V (AC) Squadron. He went on to become station commander at RAF Waddington in March 2016, and Head of Military Operations in the Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom), Ministry of Defence in December 2018. In February 2020 it was announced that he would be appointed to the post of Air Officer Commanding No. 1 Group RAF, No. 1 Group with effect from March 2020. Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force (RAF) is the United Kingdom's air and space force. It was formed towards the end of the First World War on 1 April 1918, becoming the first independent air force in the world, by regrouping the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). Following the Allied victory over the Central Powers in 1918, the RAF emerged as the largest air force in the world at the time. Since its formation, the RAF has taken a significant role in British military history. 2014 New Year Honours
The New Year Honours 2014 were appointments by some of the 16 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries. The New Year Honours are awarded as part of the New Year celebrations at the start of January. The New Year Honours were announced on 31 December 2013 in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Air Vice-Marshal Ian W. Duguid, (born 1 December 1966) is a senior Royal Air Force serving as air office commanding No. 1 Group RAF, headquartered at RAF High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. Duguid was a Harrier pilot and Typhoon Force Commander before assuming the role of the Air Officer Commanding of No. 11 Group, which he served as from 2018 to November 2021. RAF career Duguid was educated at Scarborough Sixth Form College and King's College London (MSc Defence Studies). Duguid was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1986. Air Marshal Harvey Smyth, is a senior Northern Irish Royal Air Force officer, who currently serves as the Deputy Commander Operations, Air and Space Commander. Lieutenant General Charles Richard Stickland, (born 16 May 1968) is a senior Royal Marines officer, who has served as the Chief of Joint Operations since November 2021. He was Commandant General Royal Marines from January 2018 to June 2019. Early life and education Stickland was born on 16 May 1968 in Pembury, Kent, England. He was educated at Sevenoaks School, a private school in Kent. He studied at City University, London, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in systems and management science and a Master of Arts degree in defence studies. Air Vice-Marshal
Air vice-marshal (AVM) is a two-star air officer rank which originated in and continues to be used by the Royal Air Force. The rank is also used by the air forces of many countries which have historical British influence and it is sometimes used as the English translation of an equivalent rank in countries which have a non-English air force-specific rank structure. Air vice-marshal is a two-star rank and has a NATO ranking code of OF-7. It is equivalent to a rear-admiral in the Royal Navy or a major-general in the British Army or the Royal Marines.
