All The Rowboats
"All the Rowboats" is the first single from Regina Spektor's sixth album ''What We Saw from the Cheap Seats''. It was first released for streaming on February 27, 2012, and on the following day it was released for digital download. The song had been occasionally performed by Spektor in concerts since 2005. During concerts, Spektor would emulate a drum machine sound with her microphone. Music video A music video was released on YouTube on March 28, 2012. The video begins with Spektor being tied up on a rowboat which is cut off by a clip of a lighthouse. Later she appears on a dock. The video also contains clips of Spektor underwater, running down corridors as well as being crushed by closing walls. It utilizes stop-motion animation to animate the motion of the waves. It was directed by Adria Petty, daughter of musician Tom Petty, and Peter Sluszka. Regina Ilyinichna Spektor (russian: Регинa Ильинична Спектор, ; born February 18, 1980) is a Russian–born American singer, songwriter, and pianist. After self-releasing her first three records and gaining popularity in New York City's independent music scenes, particularly the anti-folk scene centered on New York City's East Village, Spektor signed with Sire Records in 2004 and began achieving greater mainstream recognition. Jay Bellerose
Jay Bellerose is an American drummer and percussionist known primarily for his session and live performance work. He has contributed to the work of many well-known artists. Biography Bellerose was born in Maine. A jazz enthusiast, he attended the Berklee College of Music where he worked with Paula Cole, Torsten de Winkel and others, and eventually went Los Angeles where he was part of Joe Henry's band. Bellerose has been influenced by blues and jazz, and his sound is in part derived from his vintage 1940s Slingerland Rolling Bomber kit. He often performs with shakers strapped to his ankles. What We Saw From The Cheap Seats
''What We Saw from the Cheap Seats'' is the sixth studio album by American alternative singer-songwriter Regina Spektor. On November 21, 2011, Spektor posted on her Facebook page that the album had been recorded with Mike Elizondo in Los Angeles during the summer of 2011. It was released on May 29, 2012. The album is a collection of new material alongside the first studio recordings of several songs Spektor had previously only performed live. By the time of the album's release, "Jessica" was the only song that was entirely new to fans: an earlier recording of "Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)" had been included on Spektor's album ''Songs'', and the rest of the songs had already been performed live, with "How" and "The Party" making their debut just weeks earlier.
