All Star Circuit Of Champions
The All Star Circuit of Champions (abbreviated ASCoC), officially known as the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 for naming rights reasons, is an American motorsports sanctioning body of winged sprint car racing founded in 1970. The series sanctions 410ci sprint car races in several states. On average the series runs 50 races per year, starting February and ending in October each year. The ASCoC was purchased by Tony Stewart in the winter of 2015. History The ASCoC was founded by Bud Miller in 1970 after a failed venture by himself, Chris Economaki, and Wellman Lehman, to build a new race track near Youngstown, OH. Sprint cars are high-powered open-wheel race cars, designed primarily for the purpose of running on short oval or circular dirt or paved tracks. Sprint car racing is popular primarily in the United States and Canada, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Dale Allen Blaney (born January 30, 1964) is an American professional former race car driver, former professional basketball player, and is currently an assistant coach for the Westminster College basketball team. Basketball career Blaney was a basketball star for West Virginia University. He averaged 12.3 points a game. He also had several honors, including the Atlantic 10 all-rookie team, all-tournament team (twice), all-conference team, and player of the week on December 1, 1985. Sprint car racing Most of Lasoski's sprint car experience is in the World of Outlaws series, winning the WoO championship in 2001, and finishing second four times, in 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2004. He won the premiere event in sprint car racing, the Knoxville Nationals, in 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004. Lasoski also won the 360 Nationals in 1995. Doug Wolfgang (born July 26, 1952 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota) is a retired American racing driver. He holds 140 World of Outlaws sprint car series wins (fifth all-time), 37 All Star Circuit of Champions wins, and is a five-time Knoxville Nationals champion and two-time Kings Royal winner. Blaney was a successful sprint car driver before he started racing in NASCAR, competing in both the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series.
