Aline Rocha
Aline dos Santos Rocha is a Brazilian wheelchair racer and skier, who came third at the 2021 Berlin Marathon, and won multiple medals at the 2023 World Para Nordic Skiing Championships. She competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and the 2018 and 2022 Winter Paralympics. Personal life Rocha is from Paraná, Brazil. At the age of 15, Rocha was injured in a car accident, and became paraplegic. She studied physical education at the University of Western Santa Catarina. Rocha is married to Fernando Orso, who is also her coach. Wheelchair racing career As of 2017, Rocha had won the Saint Silvester Road Race on four occasions. In 2015, she won the 100 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres events at the (Regional Games of the State of São Paulo). Later in the year, she finished third at the Oita International Wheelchair Marathon in a Brazilian national record time of 01:49:37. 2023 London Marathon
The 2023 London Marathon was the 43rd running of the annual London Marathon on 23 April 2023. It was the first time since 2019 that the event was run in the spring, as the previous three races were run in autumn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The elite men's and women's events were won by Kelvin Kiptum and Sifan Hassan in times of 2:01:25 and 2:18:33 respectively; Kiptum's time was a course record. The wheelchair men's and women's competitions were won by Marcel Hug and Madison de Rozario in course record times of 1:23:44 and 1:38:51 respectively. Wheelchair racing is the racing of wheelchairs in track and road races. Wheelchair racing is open to athletes with any qualifying type of disability, amputees, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and partially sighted (when combined with another disability). Athletes are classified in accordance with the nature and severity of their disability or combinations of disabilities. Like running, it can take place on a track or as a road race. The main competitions take place at the Summer Paralympics which wheelchair racing and athletics has been a part of since 1960. 2019 London Marathon
The 2019 London Marathon was the 39th running of the annual marathon race in London, United Kingdom, which took place on 28 April. The elite men's race was won by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, who took his fourth London Marathon victory in a time of 2:02:37, the second fastest marathon ever at that point. The women's race was won by Brigid Kosgei, also of Kenya, in 2:18:20. Athletics At The 2016 Summer Paralympics – Women's 5000 Metres T54
The women's 5000 metres T54 event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics took place at the Rio Olympic Stadium on 14 and 15 September. It featured 14 athletes from 8 countries and was open to both T54 and T53 classification athletes. The United States took all three medals, while eventual winner Tatyana McFadden broke the Paralympic record during the heat stages. The T54 category is for athletes with paraplegia, but have normal hand and arm function, limited to no trunk function, and no leg function. T53 athletes may have spinal injuries or cerebral palsy and have full use of their arms but have no or limited trunk function. Records The existing world records were as follows. The Saint Silvester Road Race ( pt, Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre) is a long-distance running event, the oldest and most prestigious street race in Brazil. Regarded as the main international event in Latin American athletics, the Brazilian competition is held yearly in the city of São Paulo on December 31. This day is Saint Silvester's Day, as it is the day in which the Catholic saint, who was a Pope, died in the 4th century of the Christian Era.
